Why Don't We Make A Survey?

...in order to request to Tamiya, Fujimi, Revell etc.. new kits?

I think that this forum could represent a good chance to test the taste of customers.

1) - Each forum member could suggest his "wanted" kits. In this step there is no limit and each member can indicate as many models as he wants.
2) - Then a complete list of all the suggested kits could be done.
3) - Then every member can place his preferences (for example three votes available for each forum member...).

I know that if it works this could be a free help for Tamiya, Fujimi.... but maybe could be the chance to choose the next kits...

If you search back, this has been done many times in the last year alone.

I would rather see Hasegawa produce more WRC kits, since Tamiya seem to have lost the plot...

Question: What New Kit would you like to see produced? These are the parameters:

It has to be 1/24 scale.

Preferably it should to be a car model never before released in 1/24 or 1/25 scale. That includes die-cast. But if you think it is a viable subject, still please include it.
Subtle version or minor year design changes of existing models that have already been produced do not constitute a new kit in this situation.

No current race cars, sponsor licensing would kill the project before it starts.

It would not be a super-detail kit or have PE parts or a bunch of moving parts, more like a traditional "skill level 2" kit with lift off, or maybe opening hood to show engine. Full interior, chassis detail, etc...
Yes, it would be injection molded, not resin, it would have a clear shot, decals, soft tires and a chrome shot if needed.

Maybe an alternate version or choice of two engines, MAYBE. Nothing complex for the options.

Please think along the lines of something versatile with broad appeal, that '79 two door Ford Fairmont or that '82 Simca that was so cool as your first car won't cut it.

In no particular order and no count of how many times they were requested, here is an edited list.
(The McLaren F1 was the hands down most requested subject though.)
Many requests simply did not meet the requirements, (past kits, very obscure subjects, current race cars, semi trucks, etc.).
I did not check to see if what is listed has ever been produced before, kit, resin, diecast. Etc.
I did not edit out what I did not care for or what I think might be a licensing hassle. (I also did not make the request for the Vista Cruiser either.)
These are just to give an idea what many of today’s builders/collectors are wanting. The info was collected from international and American based message boards.

There's more to it than just asking for a kit to be made. The company has to think they will turn a profit in a reasonable time. And tooling, licensing, packaging, marketing, etc. is not cheap.
I know from experience, when someone says they will buy the kit if it is ever made, the chances across the board are less than 30%.

make everyone pay the minimum amount that tamiya needs to breakeven in advance. kind of like a group buy.

Hmmm....do you realise the kind of money you're talking about?
Design and tooling for a kit cost a lot more than a few thousand dollars.

Closer to a couple hundred thousand dollars if I remember reading somewhere correctly.

i say they should make a new truck kit, like a superduty or HD chevy dually...there are just as many people into trucks as cars and plus, these trucks could be used for trailers, etc. its to bad they probably wont make the kit unless they know itll make BIG profit.:frown:
