2001gt Vs Srt-4

So after a long-ass day of working I decide to go home and get myself a nice shower. As I get out of the shower the girlfriend calls and wants to hang out. I get dressed and head to pick her up. After I pick her up at her house (20 miles of highway away from mine) we take a nice more scenic route to town taking in the nice night. I'm just cruising around when I notice the overly homosexual spoiler of an SRT-4. I speed up a little bit and get side by side with it and look over. We are pacing each other for about 5 seconds when I hit my bottle opener and arming switch (100 dry shot). He speeds up for a second then slows down idicating that he wants to race. We get back side by side with each other and I give the 3 honks. He gets a slight jump on me because I still hadnt shifted down yet. I shift down to second going about 50 and floor it. I immediately start gaining on him. By about 100 I had atleast 3 cars on him. He falls back and I head on my way to town.

As we enter town my girlfriend and I decide to get something to eat at the health food store (I know, I know, I would have rather gotten Taco Bell too). After finishing our "organic" sandwiches, we head back and decide to drive around some more. We are just crusing through town when I see my SRT-4 driving friend again! I follow him for a while until god gave me the gift of being stuck with him at a light. This time I decide to run him without juice. So with my N20 unarmed, I give him a little rev. He revs back letting me hes interested. We wait a while at the long light. As it nears green I get ready. Once the light stuck green I was off (though with a little too much spin) pulling him off the line. It was all taillights for him all the way up to 80 with no sign of him pulling on me. As my first time racing one of these in my Stang', I really expected more of a fight. I guess they are more hype than I thought.

I live in Oregon, on the coast. The only reason I sprayed the first time was because we were racing from a roll where he has a pretty big advantage.

And I have stage 1 Cams, Midpipe, Catback, 4.10 Gears, T-body + Plenum, CAI, and a chip. Also have D/Rs and drag suspenion for track use.

Fastest 1/4 was 11.8 with a spray, with drag suspension and D/Rs.

When I raced him from a dig I had the 87 Octane tune loaded (daily driver tune).

And I have stage 1 Cams, Midpipe, Catback, 4.10 Gears, T-body + Plenum, CAI, and a chip. Also have D/Rs and drag suspenion for track use.

For starters name calling isn't really necessary, it only proves your obvious retardation. And did I make the SRT-4 FWD? Did I tell him not to mod his car so he can keep up? I would have rather raced a modded SRT-4. What do you want me to do take all my mods off and swap my cams back out so it will be fair? And how is it unfair for a sprayed car to race a turboed car? I'm just saying I hear a lot of hype about how godly the Dodge Neon is when I have beat one in all 3 of my cars with no problems (Eclipse, CRX, Mustang).

There is no winning when you post beats in a mustang. If you win than it wasn't fair and the excuses pile up and if you loose than it proves that all V8s are gas guzzling wastes of metal. And also both cars put up nearly identical numbers stock so either camp calling the other slow is pretty retarded.

209 I'm glad your SRT-4 can beat a stock Mustang GT, however mine isn't stock. So don't talk crap saying my car is slow because I need mods to beat a stock SRT-4. We all know how fast the Dodge Neon is, but believe it or not, there are faster cars.

I have no idea what you are talking about, lol. My brain is fried, and I still got a ton of work to do, so thanks for pointing that out to me, I never woulda seen it otherwise.

I was aiming not at the fact that every street race is fair. I was more aiming at the fact that he used derogatory comments towards the SRT-4, belittling the car by saying "he expected more out of it" and "its too hyped up". It was stock. And couldn't keep up with his modded GT. I was focusing on the point that maybe the SRT-4 is hyped up too much because it is held to ridiculous standards because of what a great car it really is (remembering cost and efficiency).

Interesting, glad to see some folk can respond and back up their statements like real people... and not result in name calling and bashing of others' tastes in vehicles.

Honestly, I was expecting more from the car. I see all of these videos about them "dominating" the street racing scene. And I see all these posts about them being the coolest cars ever because "oh look! it's a 4cylinder that doesnt run 15s like the rest of them". Never driven one personally, but I don't see what the big deal is about them. Yea they are cheap, and can be made fast for small amounts of money and blah blah blah. But instead of people looking at what it really is: a dodge neon with a turbo, it recieves this high and mighty persona. So sorry I wasnt impressed with the SRT-4's ability to keep up with my car..... But atleast it was getting better gas mileage???

But, you are in a decently modded Mustang GT. Stock for stock, they run doors with Mustang GT given both drivers are of equal skill.

If you were stock, and he was stock, you might be posting a Kill saying you were impressed. Or, might be posting a loss giving props to the lil SRT-4s for being darn quick for what they are.

But the moment you start trying to 'compare' modified cars to stock cars it goes out the window. You not being impressed by a stock car not being able to keep up with your modified car is rather... childish. I'd say.

Maybe you should look at it as... "I was able to get ____ distance on him, had I not had my current mods... I'd might be in trouble... kinda quick those SRT-4s are."

this sounds good and id agree, but whenever someone beats a mustang they dont have that attitude. its always exactly as black2000gt said, they are called peices of crap and not all they are cracked up to be and so on.

How am I not open minded? I have a Modded CRX, a V8 Mustang, and an all-wheel drive Eclipse. All of which I love equally. That being, said I'm not obiligated to like every car to come into production.... So I am failing to see how I'm close-minded.... If you want to explain that to me, it would be much appreciated. I was always under the impression that I was accepting of different types of cars. I guess because I don't worship the SRT-4 like a lot of other people, I am close minded...


And I wasnt unimpressed by the SRT-4 because it lost to my modded Mustang. I am just unimpressed in general by how poorly they live up to their reputation. Around here there is only one track, however there are 4 times posted for SRT-4's, none of which are in the 13s, all of which are modded. I would really like to race an SRT-4 with as much invested into it as me and see how it keeps up.... Let's keep in mind, when I raced it from a dig, I had a horrible tune, terrible tires, street suspension, and not a very good launch. So go ahead and label me as a horrible person for picking on a stock SRT-4. But until I see one that can put up a fight, I will remain unimpressed.

Last time I checked, a 13's bone stock car, is pretty decent IMO, specially for $20k. Im soon getting a new car hopping to be a 13s or better...
Nice kill by the way, i think they are just complaining that you are saying that unimpressed when a 13s bone stock car cant keep up with a 11s. I think you have a nice car, and it kicks ass, but just think what if a 9 second car driver, lets say driving a ligenfelter corvette, said he was disappointed in your car cause you couldnt keep up... i mean no matter how fast your car is you cant be dissapointed with your car or a bonestock 13's 4cyl car...
