Metallica - Black, Master Of Puppets
Pink Floyd - DSOTM
Sevendust - Animosity
Offspring - Smash
That's aboot it.
I have been a fan of the Offspring since just a little after Ixney came out, which is when I got Smash (around 96) and I can put it on now, sit back and just remember, ya know? It's the first album that I really got, meaning I understood it, I was only like 10 years old, I understood what it meant for me, it was the glass breaker for me from childhood into puberty, from Rock and Roll to Hardrock, and still to this day is prob my fav album of all time.

I gotta say its a its a toss between:
Dark Side of the Moon: Pink Floyd
Frances the Mute: The Mars Volta
and
Lateralus: Tool
aside from just being a tool freak, i really believe that the album as a whole really delivers a single and direct thought process of mind, self-being, and process of thought. Also, its just kick ass to listen to all the way through; not one of those albums that have a bunch of good songs that you'd pick to listen to at random. its like a novel with chapters; you gotta listen through from beginning to end.
Other albums that I love that are just plain kickass are probably
Audioslave: Audioslave
Legend: Bob Marley
2001: Dr. Dre
Incubus: Make Yourself
On and On: Jack Johnson
Black: Metallica
The Battle of Los Angeles: Rage Against the Machine
Blood, Sugar, Sex, Magik: Red Hot Chilli Peppers
Disintigration: The Cure
and lastly, ofcourse
Stand by your Van: Sublime

why is everyones favorite Pink Floyd album Dark Side??? I only know maybe 1 or 2 people that dont think that was their best album...I dont think Animals was the best album either, I actually think Wish You Were Here was their best album, but Dark Side was always like 3rd or 4th or 5th to me....I dont know why Dark Side is so huge.
If I had to put up a #2, I think it would have to be Metallica and Master of Puppets.

No...that's the ones after Black that sucked. The four before I dare you to find any band capable of making four consecutive records that solid.

i agree its too tough to pick between the first four. and about the wall, sometimes i cant listen to some of the songs off there, like when the tigers broke free and stuff like that its too down in the dumps. i still say wish you were here was #1, then animals #2, then division bell #3, and then its all pretty much a tie. but thats just my personal preference. they had such a groove going on animals, that album is a masterpiece. and wish you were here i can always go back to any of those songs, it had such an awesome feel to the record.

you are right, they do flow well. and dark side of the moon has kind of become pretty popular. they have all kinds of dark side of the moon stuff at the mall even. but ive liked it since i was about 5... so yeah.... i have two copies on vinyl, love listening to those late at night. whats funny is as i was saying i dont think the wall was the best, i was listening to the wall.
on the metallica issue... ive always liked metallica but ive never gotten around to getting a lot of their music :banghead: . i need to go buy something now, i just got payed

And Justice for all is about the only Metallica album I can tolerate anymore. The rest just drives me up the wall. They just got wierd. Same deal with Ozzy. I used to think he was the greatest thing in the world. Then I saw his show and now I change the radio if I hear one of his songs. It sucks but I just can't get past his stupid family (minus Sharon)

I like your picks best. Still not perfect, but much closer to my idea of a favorite.
1. Jay-Z/ Blueprint
1.Jay-Z/ In my Lifetime Vol.1
2. NAS/ Stillmatic
3. B.I.G./ Life After Death
4. Outkast/ Aquemini
Not in that order per say. Vol. 1 was probably Jay's least acclaimed record, but there were some true masterpieces on it. Aquemini is definitely my all time favorite album. My wife and I listened to it for like 1 year straight. She's aquarius, I'm gemini, but that had nothing to do with it. Just a coincidence.

It doesn't matter what album of Pink Floyd, or Metallica's you think is better than their other albums, what every floats your boat!
One of my fav albums used to be Eminem's Marshal Mathers EP from 98/99, I haven't listened to it for nearly 4-5 years but I bet I can still like the shit today.

I think that my favorite album would be Machine Head's Burn My Eyes. If I had to go to a desert island and could take only one disc, that would be the one I would take.
I listen to it when I'm happy and when I'm sad. It always puts me where I want to be. There's many other albums that I love also, but that one has a real impact on my life.

I love GNR. I bought both live Use Your Illusion dvd's a couple years back, and I found them hard to watch. Axl would be yelling and swearing at the japanese crowd and they would be kind of like, "wow". It was weird. Music was good though.
Would have been way better if they filmed it in the States I guess. If you listen to Judas Priest's Unleashed in the East it sounds like a pretty crazy crowd though, so I dunno. Live stuff is kind of hit and miss.

live albums obviously don't have the mastered sound of the normal album, but in many cases, i think live albums (if it sounds like its' been recorded well) kind of makes you feel what the artist is feeling during their song. i dunno, i like 'em. that's why i had Sublime's Stand by your Van live album up there under my fav list.

I listen to mostly country music and they always change some of the words of a song to go with the town they are in. Take someone like George Jones. I think he is the man but I simply refuse to hear him sing live. He is always out of key and sometimes forgets words. On a studio album, he is the man.
