Cheap "racing" clutches.
Anyone used any e-bay specials or have any experience with them? They are cheap as hell and if they are just as good as ACT or what not I'll just pick one up.
Just an example:

I don't know, it doesn't look like there is much material on that disk. But it might just be the angle of the photo's. I think someone should try it out. I would but I just put a 2600 in my car this summer and I have a spare on the shelf.

Ya definetly don't wanna go cheap when it comes to your clutch. It wouldn't be any fun having that thing go out on you while your out some night... I think those ebay brands are ok for a short shifter or exhaust... Those types of things aren't too expensive and don't have as much importance as your clutch. Just my 2 cents though.

Ehhh... I donno if I would trust the ebay bov's either. I heard they don't respond (they stick open or shut sometimes) as well as a brand named bov would.

Yeah, I thought the pressure plate with first clutch i bought was bad, so i bought another kit. Turns out my front left CV shaft took a shit when I took it apart to put the first clutch in. That was 4 months of :banghead: trying to figure that out. oh well live and learn.

Buying a ebay clutch is just asking to tear off the tranny twice...

Yeah, eBay brands are for FMIC's, exhausts, intakes, and short throws. I would never trust an important moving part from eBay unless its sealed in box and a name brand. Never know how good it is until you try it out though. I doubt any problems would surface in feedback, how many people install it and put a couple thousand miles on it before to see how it holds up before they leave feedback? Not me, I usually do it as soon as I get the part. I would contact some of them and see whats up, if it seems ok, try 'er out.

I wouldn't buy it, mostly because if there was a problem it's a huge pain in the ass to replace.

Stay away from "high performance" ebay clutches, they are a decent oe replacement but if you want quality spend the cash for a good clutch. I reccoment a SBR 3900lbs

I always wonder with these ebay no-name parts if they're just brand name parts without the name since it's very common for companies to not actually make the parts themsleves, just re-brand them. ACT does this btw. I think the other company that uses the same manufacturer as ACT is called RPS clutches: http://www.titanmotorsports.com/eclipseturbo.html
But that ebay one better be as good since ACTs suck as of late. And even a DSM shop (the Speed Shop) says ACT will not help you if you have a problem. They will tell you it's your fault. http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/showthread.php?t=133330 I would try Spec clutches. I've heard good things.

For the knockoff BOVs, they are exactly the same as the real ones except for the diaphram wich apparently is junk. But you can just drop a big name diaphram in for $60-80. Someone took apart their knockoff Type S in this thread: http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/showthread.php?t=200908 And remember lots of people have had problems with the real Type S too, so it's not just the knockoffs.
