Thinking about...

Mr. Luos

Ordering some wheels.
I want 315/35/17's on the rear.

Options....
1. Widen the stock WS.6 rim. $225-240 a rim. $180 a tire (Nitto DR's for the rear)
Total = $810-840

2. Chrome Corvette ZR1's. $810. $180 a tire (Nitto DR's for the rear)
Could sell the stock wheels for $600 roughly.
Total = $570
http://i2.ebayimg.com/01/i/06/36/1b/e7_1_b.JPG

3. Black Corvette ZR1's. $680. $180 a tire (Nitto DR's for the rear)
Again...able to sell the stock wheels.
These are the wheels Alex put on his Z/28.
Total = $440
http://www.lakeshorewheelandtire.com/wheels/5035-black.JPG

4. ARE Torque Thrust II's $970. $180 a tire. (Nitto on rear)
Stock wheels sellable.
Total = $730

I love my stock WS.6 wheels.
But it is VERY costly to have them fit a 315mm tire.
Other options....post them up!!

I really like the Torque Thrust II's. Even though they seem kinda 'played out' by the F-Body guys. I don't care for some of the stuff done to this car though.
http://www.arbybean.com/ar/images/TT.JPG

I guess black C5 Z06 wheels might be an option as well...
http://www.arbybean.com/ar/images/zo6.JPG

Or chrome C5 Z06 wheels...
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v344/MrsUncleBuck/Slowls1/dsc00824.jpg

These are the chrome ZR1's....I like this. Close to stock.

The first pic is a ride from LS1.com. I dont know his name but he claims to have invested $36K under the hood.

Not only are the black ones cheaper, but they look best with your all black car I think. They have just enough aluminum/chrome to accent it without sticking out too much in my opinion.

I like the look of either the black rims, or the tt II, jimho

i thikn the black ones look to much like ricer rims, i love the torquethrust 2's. I am thinking about getting them on my car. I had them on my 95 z28, but remeber on thoes, you have to have a thin wall socket to get them off, and the center cap it held on by allen screws i would switch them out with flat head stainless screws. The allen's get striped.

Flip a coin between any of them but I like the AR2's best . I like the contrast .I would never try to have stock ones cut and welded . No one has a T/A in my area so personnalizing is all about me. Rob

Wow. Hard decision, I prefer the stock wheel as well, always thought the trans am got better looking wheels than the 2000-2002 ss camaros did. Personally, I'd widen the stock wheel, or find someone to make a knockoff wheel thats wide enough.

Great Decision! Those are beautiful wheels, keep us posted with pics once they are on your car.

How do you post pictures I've been wondering for a while now. I was able to browse for my Avatar but not for my signature or post. How do you guys do it?

Mr. Luos

The pic has to have an internet web address.

Then...
web address

And I have to decide between the chrome and the classic now.
The chrome is the one you see...and the classic is the same design but like this...

I can't see those wheels looking like a ricers.
WAY too clean on the car.
They aren't a black...more like a gunmetal.

ya, but i think chrome will look way better.

Im3good4u
02-23-2006, 09:08 PM
I would go Chrome but its ur car. If you like the others try to get black I dont think gun metal would like right, there just isnt anything gray on your car.

I like the clasic with the dark centers - like old muscle cars.

I do like the idea of widening the stockers too tho.

Where do you get that done? I'd like to widen the honeycombs on my 79...

Mr. Luos
02-23-2006, 11:31 PM
Try your local tire shops. Maybe they can point you in the right direction. It is expensive though.
Seems there is ONE shop in the Denver area that does it.
Try this...

BTW...
I just got a PM back from the owner of that black Trans Am with the wheels I want at Tech.
Powdercoated a gloss black in the centers. So they would be torque thrusts, but a little custom.

Well.... like you said and it's true.... the TT2's are played out hard. Hell for that matter so is just about everything else mainstream in that $$$ range.

I was going to have my WS6 stockers widened though ultimately went w/the Bogarts for the weight savings, BUT.... IMHO, you "could" have you stockers widened and have the spokes powder coated black. Now THAT would kick major ass..... at least to me that would be tuff as hell. Original, clean, rare, and sexy-

Do a search over at Tech.... there was a co. doing the widening mod to any wheel. Beautifull work and guarenteed quality.

They screwed me outta $170.
Not so much the money as the fact they can't even cover a minor part for a customer that had mistakenly spent $1800 with them.
