This could be false but i was told that the '96 V6 mustangs were becoming a rarety due to the fact that most have been wrecked or just died, therefore their value has gone up, has anyone else heard of such a thing?

I have a '99 GT and it's resale value was destroyed when the '05s came out. And I doubt the value of V-6s ever goes up much at all.

what car would you get if you sold the cobra?

I really want to step up to a car like the E36 M3 and I am currently looking for one. I like that they have everything situated more toward the driver plus it is almost setup out of the box for what I like. The only change I would really need to do would be steel braided brake lines but I may end up doing stuff like exhaust, intake, chip, and maybe a short throw shifter. I may be considering a M roadster since E36 M3s seem to be difficult to find around here that arn't autos, verts, or have less than 80K miles. Plus I never use the back seat anyway and roadsters are fun to have on Texas Hill County roads. I know I said I didn’t want a vert but a 2 seat vert is totally different that a 4 seater.

Now don’t get me wrong the Cobra is a great car but I feel that I have outgrown it. To turn it in to what I am looking for and demand in a car I would have to spend about $10-$14K. Granted it would be a hell of a lot better than the M3 but at that cost its just not worth it. What I am talking about here is everything form coil-overs and a tubular K member with Front Lower Control Arms moving the wheels forward for better weight distribution with a full blow KB IRS to engine work and a T56 not to mention better front seats and no rear seats. Then there is the brake system to work on and that may end up being a nightmare. The Fronts are easy but the rear I’m not to sure about and that is the week point as all Mustangs are equipped with the same rear brakes from the V6 to the 2000 R.

I wonder if the new 05+ mustang rear brakes would work on previous model mustangs with 5 lug wheels.

I'm not sure if they will. For the non IRS SN95 Mustangs the Steeda rear brake upgrade is about the only thing I have seen that gets you biggre brakes in the rear.
