SRT vs. WRX wagon?

Well I had just left one of the local car shops(just chillin':icon16: ) and I'm on my way home when I see/hear that loud gurgle exhaust that can only be one thing...a wrx. I get closer to him and see some huge custom(maybe?) 4" looking exhaust. It wasn't just the tip it was all the way back, you could somewhat see it hanging underneath the car. So we start paising eachother for a couple miles because of so much traffic. We exit and are about to run but something doesn't feel right and what do you know...a cop sitting behind some bushes...thank God we didn't run then. We proceeded about 5 more miles so we have some safety away from the popo. It's still busy out but we sit at the stopsign for about 30 secs. to let the traffic in front pull away. We both sort of just rolled into it. He immediately got the edge but after my wheels stopped the spinning and I reached the end of 2nd gear I was at his back bumper and half way through 3rd I had about 4 cars on him. That's when we caught up to the traffic which cut him off so since he had to slow down so did I. We pulled up to the next stopsign and he yelled out "That was badass!" I responded with "Ya I guess...?" He had the basic mods i/d/e etc. Those wagons are pretty quick though:eek:

According to Edmunds, I believe they're 80lbs.
Not exactly a big deal in my mind... plus they get a cheaper insurance rating for being a Sporty Wagon, rather than a Sporty Sedan.
Kinda cool in my opinion.
Mitsubishi is finally getting into the act and might be bringing a EVO Wagon over to the States. Talk about bitchin stuff.

Sadly, after successfully convincing me wife that it would be better than her SUV, Mitsubishi decided against bringing it to the USDM. Only 2,500 were produced between September and December of '05. All for the JDM.
All the reputable car publications I've read (Edmunds, SCC, SPEED, MT, etc) seem convinced that it will never see US shores. Oh well. At least we get the Lancer Ralliart wagon.

good race dude, i unfortunately lost to one of those damn buick roadmasters (it's just a big 'ol wagon with a V8 and exhaust...what's the big deal?) back when i had an LT1 camaro..i figured it was extremely heavy and since i had exhaust too and was extremely niave (sp?) i thought that that whining noise was a belt slipping or something...then he we raced and he beat me by 5 car lengths...i'm sure you guys no that that whining under the hood wasn't a bad belt....damn wagons....good race...sorry to hijack the thread like this...

Good run!!
Yeah, the wagon ain't much different at all from the sedan.
And a 4 inch exhaust - especially all the way through - is retarded on a rex. Unless you're pulling major major horsepower from a giant turbo which this guy sure wasn't

Hey stop bitching! at least you get the EVO!!
In Canada the EVO doesn't pass our rigorous 5km/h (like 2.2mp/h) front bumper tests and therefore isn't street legal
From what I heard fo some strange reason it actually takes a little bit of effort to make it pass and for Mitsu its the least of their problems
Nice kill BTW

I raced a WRX wagon at the strip and he ran a mid 15 with warm conditions and a light launch. He beat me. It was my first time at the track in my 97 Camaro V6. I ran a low 16 with intake and Flowmaster muffler. I couldn't launch for shit cus my clutch is pretty warn plus I don't have LSD...=2.4 60 foot was all I could manage..Oh, and I missed 2nd gear..:( 5 speed...But, if that WRX wagon had done a near redline launch, he coulda prolly managed a high 14 in warm conditions. So, in perfect conditions, woulda maybe even been a mid 14.
