just raced a 'stang gt

ok, i just raced an '05 mustang gt from a roll, from about 25. his car lunged like all hell was behind him, but he didnt go anywhere very quick. We took it to about 85, and he only had maybe a car length on me. MAYBE. it felt pretty good with him being a 05 car with 300HP printed on the side on his car and me being able to keep up.:grinyes:

Hmm sounds like a nice race but and SL vs a 300hp Mustang I don't know.

Have to say I know nada about the stang though....

300hp printed on the side of his car.....lol 700+ hp jap cars are common in NZ....lol

I highly doubt he was even racing. I dont know exactly about 05's but 99-04's are in TT territory. 05's are supposed to be even faster. You sure you didnt race a new V6?

an unhealthy TT maybe, i've seen too many TT's, even stock TT's walk away from GTs around here without much of a problem at all.

Well I meant it as more of 99-04 GT's are out of the SL's(NA of course;)) league. And with a bump in power for the 05's even more so.

That is true, to an extent. You can buy the 05 V6's, with something called the "pony package" (maybe its something else now) but this package come with that hood scoop, gt wheels, and dual exhaust. There is a red one that has the body of a roush, but is a v6.

So you most likely raced a v6, because the 300hp gt would leave you, or he wasnt really racing.

He shouldnt have lost to a 6cyl though...

Now why is it that he shouldnt have lost to a v6 stang? It sounds to me like the car was just barely faster than him, which describes the 05 V6 stang perfectly.

yea the 3000gt sl has 220hp and it's fwd so it loss less hp at the wheel,so 3000gt will beat the v6 one.

And I have raced the 05 GT as well as a 04 mach 1 and yes you would get beaten pretty good if you raced one of them with a NA 3/S

The 3000gt is really only about 210hp at the most. The new V6 Stang owns it in the torque department. And when will people get it thru there heads that peak hp isnt the deciding factor in a race? You have average hp which is more important, torque, gearing, weight, etc etc etc.

05 gt run mid 13's
05 v6's run mid 14's

if it was a 05 gt, it wasnt racing you, but just playing with you
