ok, my friend has a 93 base with a 2nd gen engine, and a custom cat back exhaust. im in a 92 sl with (check sig for mods). almost every time we race, he pulls away in 3rd gear. i normally get him off the line and through 2nd, but he catches and passes me in 3rd. how???? oh, and certain nights he cant keep up, then 30 minutes later im the one falling behind?????
also, i have an oil leak, i think in my front seal, would that cause a loss in power?

Perhaps he's better at driving his car then you are with yours? :smokin:

^what about maintenance... if your 60K is due, than that could be it. How many miles on your car and how many miles on his???

Your cars are so evenly matched that it could come down to who ate less for dinner, or who's spark plug wires are newer. His is a base, so it probably weighs a bit less...perhaps you just have better reaction time, and then he comes back because he is dragging just a little bit less weight.
My friend and I had identical hondas years ago, except his was a 92 and mine was a 90, same mods, etc, he always pulled on me...that is real life.

last night, we race again... i have:
Me (~150lbs), 1 other guy (~150lbs), and a girl (~100lbs).
He has Him (~150lbs), a girl (~100lbs) and another girl (~100lbs)
so, its a sl + ~400lbs VS a base + ~350lbs.....
again, i pull almost half a car on him from 1st, keep it through 2nd, then he pulls a full car ahead through 3rd and hold it through 4th.
This exact race happened 3 more times throughout the night..
ALSO: Is it possible that im losing high-end power from a loss of back-pressure? (because of my dual-pipe, no-cat, glass-pack exhaust)?

Free flowing exhaust helps top end power not hurt it.

if anything you'd loose low end, but gain some high end...

thats the other thing i was thinking.... Im a first gen engine with 127k and hes runnin wth a 2nd gen with 55k.... but my 120k was done a little early...(to the best of my knowledge, i got the car at 118k)

The mileage may be a factor. Another thing that just came to mind though is the fact you have a 92. They have adjustable timing via the CAS. If that is out of adjustment it could affect your top end.

Your mods are equal to his mods and he is lighter than you. If you want to be faster than him, mod more.
