Hello.

f anyone can help me with this problem It would be greatly appreciated.

I have just replaced the metal coolant pipe on my Mk2 Golf Driver (1.6). I replaced it as I was losing coolant through the old metal pipe where it had perished in many places. I thought if I replaced it then all would be fine and my car would run sweet again. I didnt have to drain the coolant when changing the pipe as it had done it itself......anyway, I changed it over making sure all the rubber hoses connecting to it were secured back on with new clips. But, when i went to fill the expansion tank back up with coolant, it all drains staright out from no visible point. It comes out pretty fast and I have checked all the connecting hoses more than a few times but it seems to come from the back of the engine nearest the bulk head. I cant see exactly where it is coming from so thats why I'm here asking for help. My haynes has been leant to a mate who lost it so I thought i'd try some knowledgeable internet chaps and chapettes.

Any help would be great.

we dont have 1.6 in the us but the coolant flange you are talking about, is it on the cylinder head? if its like the 1.8 and 2.0 engines it needs a rubber o-ring on the flange.

if the pipe is not seated flat against the head or block it will leak
