94 rodeo check engine light

I have a 94 Rodeo with 146k miles. My check engine came on on the way back from my girlfriends house. As long as Im idle or at very low RPMs the light is off. As soon as I reach anything above about 1500-2000 RPMs the light comes back on. The engine also sounds like its have to work extra hard to accelerate but I have noticed no change in the RPMs. Any ideas?

Have the codes read. They will do it for free at Autozone. Report back with the codes.

Don't know if all Autozone's have the equipment to run codes on a pre-97 vehicle.

But it's worth a shot.

That's good then, I know the Autozone's around these parts don't have the scanner for the older years - or at least that's what they say. My B-I-L had a 95 Buick that kept throwing a CEL, went to 5 different Autozone's, not one could read the code for him.
