Car inspection sticker location

There may have been previous threads on this, but in my case, when I got my car inspected, I moved the sticker they put on to a different location. I've seen other cars with theres in different spots without realizing they weren't in NJ. So friends said I should move it before I get a ticket. One problem, the thing is hardened on, and if I remember correctly, when I moved it the first time, the numbers were coming off slightly because of the reapplication. If I did it now, it would probably crumble and be a mess. What should I do? Leave it?

you could tell them your window was broken and you need a new one, or just leave it.

Can I get in trouble?

Leave it in place. If the sticker is moved and starts to look too bad, the cops are going to be much more suspicious than if its just in the wrong place. Poor-appearing stickers may make them think you have forged/tampered with it.


As for trouble................if you are nice to the cops they will not hassle you for such a minor issue.
Best of all, drive properly and do not attract the cops attention in the first place.
