My parents are considering getting me a Mustang GT, which is what I would like to get. They will, however, probably end up getting me some Honda or Toyota, and Hondas aren't so bad, but the Mustang is the Mustang. How can I convince them that this is the car for me? Anyone posting off the subject will be seen as idiots who can't understand a simple question, thanks!

there pretty good in accidents for being a sports car. tell then the GT's weight over 3400 lbs.(my parents are obsessed with me having a heavy car) there also pretty good on gas

Well, the v6 maybe good on gas, but the v8 is not quite as good. Its not bad, just not the greatest.

I am surprised that your parents are considering the GT and not the v6 version. You can kill yourself with the v8, lol. Just dont mention to your parents that it does have a v8 and that they haull ass.

A good excuse, is to tell the that you just feel comfortable and safe in a big car (ie mustang!)

Its going to be difficult convincing them of that to be honest. It may be easier to work a deal with them. They are awesome cars but not really practical.

I see what you mean, that is why I need really good points to bring up about the GT. Saying it is heavy is a good idea.

We have the A-plan so that will help, but my dad is only looking at it from a financial angle, which won't help. He is nearly set on a more reliable Asian car that is more fuel efficient.

well then you need to convince him that you will get a job and help pay some of the insurance/gas.

I have tried that and he doesn't want me to take time away from school work for a car.

Anyone, what do you think are the top six most practical reasons to get a mustang GT?

well they are reliable, thats not an issue with mustangs. mine has never had a single repair and im at 81,000 miles right now. seems like he thinks only asian cars are reliable.

a v6 isnt bad on gas... you could always get that and save up to buy a turbo or supercharger for it, but it sounds like your not gonna be working....

If they tell you that you have to get an Asian car go for an S2000!

As far as fuel efficient I have had both a 02 GT and a 01 Cobra. The Cobra seems to be more fuel efficient but then again my GT was a factory freak. As far as how they will do in a crash here are some pics of my GT after I got T-boned by a CTS. The front end of the CTS was tottaly gone. I had subframe connectors so they did help a lot in the accident.

Yep that was my first "mod".
Without the silencer, a K&N filter, and a Bassani catback it had 241.2hp and 282.3Tq at the wheels. It impressed a friend of mine since it actually put down more Tq than his modded Bullitt that day.

thats bullsh*t! i know someone who gets better milage in a GT with 3.73s and a vortech then i do in my V-6, insurance is only a couple hundred more a month so both those excuses are no longer excuses.

ONLY a couple hundred more a month?

year. in some cases it is actually cheaper cause there are more V-6s then GTs so more 6ers get stolen, or thats what my insurance company said to me.

i have two things to say

1. if your not getting as good gas milage in you 6 than a saleen or whatever it is, then there is nothing to blame but you for the way you drive.

2. your insurance agent is full of shit and is ripping you off.
