hi, everyone, i just start to play modelling. last time i used to collect diecast like autoart, kyosho, minichamps. now i think that modelling is more challenging and can do different kind of modification. i am new in this field. can i know which brand is the better and the quality is good. the brand that i know only are :- 1/24

tamiya
fujimi
revell
hasegawa

can anyone tell me the different between each and which quality is better? thanks :iceslolan

They all suck pretty badly, there are some very good builders though that turn them into good models.

Welcome to AF!! Tamiya and Hasegawa are the best. However, all of the companies you have listed have suprised alot of people for the positive and negative.

Ray: Have you given up on n00bs for this month?;)

Hey, it's one thing to direct the new guy to the FAQ to answer his question, a whole different thing to tell him things that aren't true to try and be funny. We may know the joke, but after reading this thread, he'll go get an AMT kit, have a horrible time trying to get it together, and go back to diecast. Do you know what that means? Less dollars going to Tami, Revell, Fujimi, and less incentive for them to make the cars we want, and less incentive for them to not do things like give us diecast chassis.

Ha ha this is a funny thread, let me tell ya.

If these quesions get your goat that much, stay out of the damn thread. I cannot, for the life of me, understand what makes some people around here feel that it's more valuable to waste a post trying to screw someone over instead of trying to be helpful. It would the same amount of time to post something helpful than it would to be a smart ass.

I've also got to say, even though the FAQ seems so completely obvious to us, it may not be to everyone. Gently encouraging the new folk to check the FAQ or tutorial section is great - there is a wealth of information there. Encouraging them to search is great too. But there's no reason to be a jerk about it. You were all new, too, once, even the mods. So cut this shit out, and act like grownups.

Man, this thread. I've got a brand new pair of lollerskates, and you've got a brand new key.

I understand your point Willimo, but this is the second thread like this in a week!

To answer your question, felix, well honestly, that question can't really be answered in so many words. Kit makers vary from kit to kit, so some AMT kits may actually be better than some Tamiya kits, depending on how you judge them. So who's best and who isn't is a pretty hard thing to pin down.

However, I feel what you're really asking is "who makes kits that will be best for someone new to this?" and there's a pretty strong concensus that Tamiya kits are probably the best for someone that's new - they are consistantly well manufactured and can most easily lead to a good model for your shelf. However, keep in mind, you're the one building it, and as your skills get better and better, you could just as easily make a killer show winning model from an AMT promo as you could from Tamiya's Enzo.

Actually, Ray, it's the second thread like this today. If that gets you so upset, just stay out of them. I'm more than happy to come into these threads and help them out.

Well Willimo you turn to good my evening, so I like to add a bit: felixfatass (newbees, short names please :grinyes:) why don't you say us your tastes? I totally agree with Willimo on Tamiya, and I admit that tamy stuff fill almost my stash, but for example they haven't any NASCAR, or, ex. a Tamy Enzo or a Fujimi EM, or some Hasegawa stuff could be quetly hard as a 1st attempt.

Let us to help you: say just what you want and someone will point you in the proper dyrection.

Willimo how are lollerskates? are a kind of happy rollers?:lol:LOL

Agree with Gio..Yea felix, it really depends on what car you want to make, then the brand. Shoot us some ideas of what kits you want, and we can tell you which companies you could go with. And which would be best of them.

i prefer the car like subaru, evo, skyline!! i prefer the japanese makes car because i think that i can start learn to assembly it first, paint it then just start to modified. i am thinking to buy the evo 7 from the tamiya! is it the good start for the beginner learner? yeah i still go 1 more to ask, i think that it is expensive to buy the color spary from tamiya. i am thinking to get the spary to the hardware shop, is it a good idea for this? thaks all the senior!!

i think it might be worth making the FAQ links slightly bigger and perhaps more notice-able.

The EVO will be great. Tamiya sprays are more expensive, but very worth it. The paint from the hardware store will be much harder to use, and just isn't made to work on models where the detail is as fine as it is. Please do check the FAQ at the top of the index, there is a lot about paint there and in the tutorial thread.

With a screen name like felix-fat-ass I'm guessing this guy has a sense of houmor. Good thing too. :)

As to the question, don't bother about if the kit is good too much, just pick a car you are interested in and try your best.

Did you mean Evo VI from tamiya? Or the Evo VII rally version? Deffinately get model paint. If you are getting that Evo rally car, spend the extra buck or two and get the tamiya paint. Your model will thank you later. Good luck.

yeah..i got the evo 7 with the rally version. what you meant spent more money to buy? you meant i just need to buy fews color, then the car will look very nice? thanks for your comment.

I mean buy the Tamiya paint. It is the best spraypaint you could get for the Tamiya kit, if you want it to look good. Testors paint is very thick most of the time. Tamiya is great all of the time. Good luck.

The Tamiya WRX street would be a much better kit to start out with if you wanted. Non racing cars are usually better off to start with. You would need to learn how to use the decals. The WRX is very easy to make too. Either or. Good luck dude.
