Any am theft devices? does the security lite stay on? Try jumping the purple wire at the starter solenoid to the large lead on the solenoid.

the security lite is not on. the security system will arm using the remote and also disarms. i assume the key is on for suggestion of the jumper at the starter?

I have a '02 Envoy that has been into service 6-times for not starting. I could always jump it with no problem. Every 7-days the battery would die and it was back to service. Something on the truck was draining the battery. We were then told it was the original battery, and it was suggested we replace it. We also replaced the module for alarm system. That didn't solve the problem. We then, per Detroit's advice, disconnected everything after market. Even On-Star was disconnected. Finally after 3-months of the service department "not knowing what was wrong", they finally replaced a module for the rear door. So far, it has been starting each time (keeping my fingers crossed). Has anyone else had a similar problem?

What module, for the tailgate, need specifics to answer your question, what was wrong with the module relative to the battery dying?

I'm having a similar problem, my 02 Envoy dies after using the remote start a few times. I have replaced the battery and it still ends up dying. As a matter of fact, when I remote start it, the truck shuts itself off after a few seconds.

Any ideas or similar experiences???

Yes, that's a problem with bypassing the Passlock 2 system. It should start normal but stall like it's out of gas right? You'll have to have the bypass checked.

Not exactly, it does start up normally, but it shuts off if I open the door. When I try to remote start it again, it starts and then shuts off within 5 seconds. After a couple tries of this, the battery gets severly drained . I'll still have the passlock system checked though...Thanks a bunch

You've got something severly wrong. You gotta make sure all of the accessory and ignition wires hooked up. Failure to do so could really mess up things on your truck.

Update:

Hey, it looks like I'm goin to get the whole remote start module removed. Before I do that, do you know if Envoy SLE's come with remote starts? If so, I can get it replaced under my warranty.

Thanx for your help, Ponchonutty :grinyes:

Correct they didn't offer OEM remote start however Directed Electronics use to sell remote starters and alarms to GM dealers and labled them as GM/Delco. I would talk to your dealer's service center and see if they do them or who does them for them. Hopefully another shop actually does the installs for them and they'll tell you who they are. Otherwise it'll cost you a little more going through the dealer.

Thanks Poncho, it seems like you know a lot about Envoys. I have a couple more questions about my truck, would it be okay for me to ask you?

Thanks Sim

Yes, I can try. I will tell you that my knowlege is purely electronics though.

Ok, poncho, my temperature display, in the rear view mirror, constantly reads "OC." I dont know what that means and since I don't have a manual yet, I don't know if it's an error message or something that indicates a necessity to reprogram.

Thanks Poncho (or whoever else has a response)

OC means Out of Calibration. Most common thing is the temp sensor is either bad or came unplugged.

Did you test at the starter? Did you test at the starter relay? If not, I'd check there first.

Okay,

Time to dredge this up from the bottom of the heap. Just bought a '02 Envoy 3 months ago. 90 day warantee just ran out. It now sits in the garage. Lights work, security light does not blink at me while attempting to start. Ran test light from purple wire on silenoid and go power when the key is turned. Figuring it's the starter or th PCM. Anyone have any other suggestions? Ran a battery charger on it for an hour, and the AMP meter shows 1 to 2 AMPs on the charger. Battery seems to be fine.
