New kid, Few questions.

Hey Dudes.

First off i'd like to introduce myself. I'm 16, My names Keenan, and im from your northern counterpart, Canada.

I bought a 88 CRX SI about a month ago for 2200, It has 320k on the chassis, and 120k on the engine. Paid 2200 CAD. And, im happy with it so far.

I've replaced the air+fuel+oil filters and a few rad hoses. Did a little engine dress up, interior lighting, Painted the hood black as the paint was fucked(car is Rio red) and am in the process of shaving the trim. Put on a ractive exhaust, and a few other things.

Few problems though.

1. My headlights no longer come on, in the third selecton on the switch, although all my running lights come on. I'm thinking its a contact in the signal lever, but am not 100%.

2 .Also my idle is weird sometimes. It Hunts from about 1100 to 2000. but odd part is its only sometimes, and when it does happen, my engine light comes on, i can shut the car down, and fire it up again, and its perfect idle at about 900. Because of this, im thinking it may not be vaccume problems.

3. My rear quarters are in pretty odd shape, not really rusty. just the previous jackass just "bondo'd" the shit outta them, is there anywhere you can buy or aquire new quarters?

4. My left lower rear strut mount is TOTALLY bent. sombody must have hit a rock with it, is there any way of straightening it, and if i do, will it muck with my alignment?

Any help would be awesome.

I'm also curious, towards these ebay coil overs and headers. im not thinking they are any good. but its worth the ask while i have your attention.

hey whats up keenan,

1. ok,on the headlights:
1.parking lights,2.headlights,3.brights-which is activated by a pull back of the knob,so you mean by the 3rd selection....brights?
its most likley your bulbs or a fuse,have you checked them?

2.could be vacuum leak,try spraying wd40 around/on the vacuum hoses to see if anything happens & let us know,also it could be your idle speed sensor on the head,it could be your IAVC/EACV sensor on the intake manifold-(you can take it off & clean the screen out-which probably needs done)
if you have an ohm meter & know how to use it,check all your sensors,
its worth knowing everythings in tach.
one other thing is,you probably need to reset the ecu & make sure you reset your ecu if you disconnect anything or change anything.

3.you could go to a junk yard & find rear quarter panels...lol
but then here goes the cutting them off & grinding,then welding & shaping & smoothing,not worth it,
go ahead & rip all that bondo off,see your situation & fix it from there,
some experience will be needed,maybe some welding on sheet metal then use fiber glass to finish it off.

4.on the lower strut,just buy you a new one,bolt it back up,don't try to mess with straightening it back up & all that other b/s.

and on the ebay header & coilovers,go for it,
some ppl will say heck no & some will say hell no,
but I went with them,havent put neither on yet but I went with it,
if your wanting to build your car top-notch shape -no games-go with a dc header or whatever & eibach springs or if you just want a little rice here and there go for ebay,
its your discision.
another thing,what motor do you have in your car?
being that the chassis has 320k & the motor has 120k,,,,there must of been a swap somwhere there.
hopefully someone else can give you a little more info on the problems.

welp, My highbeams work perfectly, but, when on the headlight setting, only my corner lights come on, and not my headlights. I've checked the fuses and they dont seem to be the problem, When i first had the car, they worked fine, but, after about 3 weeks, i'd have to fiddle with the switch to get them to come on, and eventually they just.. stopped working altogether.

I'll try the wd on the lines next weekend when i have access to my shop.

Actually, i think i may have not been clear, the point on the frame where the strut bolts to which is welded on, is totally bent. not the actual strut itself.


As for my engine, its the stock 1.6 liter sohc.
