Service Engine Soon Light!!!

I just put on the SLP smooth bellow, MAF Sensor, and Air Lid. I had quite a bit of trouble getting the lid to fit properly and also there is a plug like thing that was connected to the old setup and no longer has a place to put it in... then after i got done i went for a test drive and the service engine soon light came on. so i shut the car off and restarted and the light is still on. the car has no leaks or anything, and runs as good as ever... any ideas???

First off....put the stock MAF back on and return the 85mm one if you can.

That is probably the code. Bet it leaned you out enough to make the computer throw the code.
Unless a sensor wasn't re-connected by accident.

well i cant return it... but what can i do to get rid of the light?? also, what is the smaller plug that isnt being used anymore? and did anyone else have problems with the lid fitting...? it just didnt seem to want to fit right...

I'm not too keen on the 98-02 intake systems. So someone correct me if I'm wrong, but the "plug like thing" he's referring to, isn't that the Air Temperature Sensor? My friends 2000 T/A has one in his intake lid, and I believe that's what he said it was. So if you bought a new air lid, and it didn't have the sensor harness already in it, then that sounds like that's your problem? Seeing as in how you wouldn't be able to connect the cord back to the sensor. I'd call SLP and see what's up with that crap.

It needs removed from the stock piece and installed on the new lid.
Can you get pics? That should tell me right away.

Yeah, is there a small hole anywhere on the new lid you bought? If so, then I'd assume that's where you're supposed to take the air temp sensor out of your old lid and put it in that one. That way you can then reconnect the sensor.

yes thats exactly what it was... thanks alot guys! however, how do i get the SES light to go away now??? also did anyone else have problems with the lid fitment though? mine is an extremely tight fit and it just does seem like its on there correctly... seems like it could be on there better if i trimmed down the bellow maybe?

Mine is kinda a custom job.
Yes...I had to cut down the Fernco piece a couple times to get it to fit. Still a VERY tight fit. Probably too tight.

well everything is hooked up properly now... i just need to know how to get rid of the Service Engine Soon light

You can either wait...or try this.

The LS1 takes a little more than just disconnecting the battery to reset the ECM.
If you want, I can get you the instructions.
Or, you can drive to AutoZone, have them read the codes, and clear them. This would be a good idea just to make sure it was just that one sensor.

plug the ob2 in and earase it.
