Did you replace them your self? Does it have all the forward speeds? also what does it do when you put it in "N" and "R" move forward?

in R and Neutral it does the same thing it doesnt move but its not in neutral. in all other D 2 1 they drive forward correctly

So in "R" it does not move. In "N" it does not move either? So how do you know that "N" is not "N". As for "R" check the adjustment of the rear band also make sure the band strut is not laying in the pan. Also who replaced the friction If a shop did take it back.

i put the friction plates in
i did not touch the rear band i will double check it today
in N and R it just doesnt move and its not in Neutral
it was that way before i put the friction plates in though
when i got in the tranny the friction plates were completely worn out COMPLTETLY

So the problem existed BEFORE you did all the work...sounds like you have a previously existing transmission problem, my friend.

Did you happen to look at the planet right under the forward and direct clutches? Some times that planet gets all messed up and it binds up. what kinda of junk was in the pan when you pulled it for the new clutches.

the oil was horrible there was alot of junk in the pan i believe i saw some metal shavings also but i know the friction plates were so bad they grinded up some of the steels cuz there was no friction at all left on them. the steels were also bent a little
i did not change out the steels i just put them back on. thats probably my problem right. i dont see why reverse doesnt work but i could see why Neutral doesnt work if the friction plate steels are a bit bent

Did you reprogram the trans? When you r&r those there is a specific series you have to go through to reprogram them
brattzzzzz

no i did not reprogram them i dont even know this was possible and i dont have the tools to reprogram the trans
should i have it reprogrammed?

Troy1: to be honest i looked at all the planets and every1 looked Pefect and the friction plates slided on them with ease
the only damage i saw was the friction plates were worn down all the way to the metal and even shaved from there and the steels were bent a little and worn a bit i did not replace the steels

to program some of those trans its a matter of engageing the gears in a certain order off the ground then on the ground in a specific series. The best thing to do is call a local tranny shop and ask them if that is the type that needs it and if so, if they can do it. I learned of it from a tranny shop, but all the electronic trans are a little different so I would ask. Alot of them will want you to bring it in to look at, but just keep calling around until you get some answers so you can make an informed decision on what you need to do. If it needs programmed, you will probably need them to do it because they certainly won't tell you how.I hope this helps, it may not be the solution but it is worth investigating.Good luck.

On dodge a small amount of metal/brass in the pan is ok. As for the steels you should have replaced them also. Your best bet now is pulling it back out and having it rebuilt. that would save you about $400 bucks in labor. It sounds like something is causing a bind up. Sorry Also no reprogaming for the trans.
