Intake

I have an 02 cav with a 2.2l and am thinking about getting a intake for it. For people who have them do they make much of a difference or will i not even notice?

You'll notice. Expect to see your first tank of gas drop very quickly when you install it. Alot of people tend to get on the pedal alot when they get them. :wink:

Sell it for something that can actually make power.

Since I know you dont want to do that, search. You'll find a crap ton of threads on simple performance that will all tell you to get header, high flow cat/test pipe, and a catback.

I asume you are talking cold air intake?
Beware and Chose it with care.
There are a lot of different aftermarket cold air intake systems out there.
Most claim more HP and gas mileage.
And some of them are not even true outside cold air intake systems.
But for normal driving I have found it is hard to beat the OEM air intake and filter systems.
Most of which are already forced cold air intake from fender or grille area.
Some ford trucks and some cars even have a cone shaped OEM filter in them
Performance people will claim that a add on cold air intake has less restriction
that gives them a few more HP for performances, which may be true.
Different engine react different but you also have to consider that the OEM intake manifold is also restricted.
And the fact that a lot of add on air intakes pull hot air from engine compartment instead of outside air from fender and grille.
Also a lot of oiled filters require more maintenance and care to keep in working order and gives MAF sensors a fit.

he is right if your looking for gas milage then you might want to stick with stock. If your looking for sound and slight performance, while letting minor amounts of gas milage go, i would recomend a true cold air intake and when you do that stick with brand name companies you might pay a little more but you paying for better stuff, Also as MT-2500 said the intake manifold is restrictive and if you want more power i would change that too. the only problem is what are you looking for.

Alright I think i know what to get now. But how much better is a CAI than a WAI?

CAI and WAI are gonna be about the same, not gonna see any difference really in performance. Regardless of what any ricer tells you. Also any aftermarket air intake system is gonna improve gas mileage as long as you arent lead footed once you get it. A less restrictive air intake will always equal better gas mileage.

How about "improved throttle response"?

Whenever I look at ads or the descriptions for intake systems, it says among the other things it will improve throttle response. Is this true?

as far as throttle response, yes you will notice a difference.. I have a WAI on my cavi and noticed quite a bit difference in throttle response and a little more umph to her as well.

Yes it will be more responsive, but it goes back to being a lead foot.
