1995 Trackday Subaru Impreza

This was based on the Revell RAC Rally Impreza. I added 18" Rennaissance 6 spoke Speedline wheels and bonnet pins with Modellers photoetched wiper blades. Bare metal foil for lights. The colour was mixed by my Halfords (UK Automotive store) to match Subaru Dark Blue Mica.

I also scratchbuilt the rear wing out of brass sheet, plastic card and filler. I have since realised that this is available as part of a resin transkit! Oh well, good experience!

I lowered the suspension a lot by reducing the length of the springs and dampers and I also added negative camber to get the wheels to fit snugly under the arches.

It was only after painting that I realised that the wheels and tyres didn't fit the chassis! Major nightmare! :banghead: So I cut and filed the wheels to make them fit, not ideal but it looked ok in the end although the wheels don't rotate!:grinyes:

Any comments welcome.

I don't know why the wheels look so big in the photos, they are to the correct scale, I checked the dimensions and they are the same as the 1:24 scale 18" wheels included in the Tamiya tarmac rally kits. The photo's seem to make them appear larger than when viewed for real.

Very nice attention to detail. The tire wear looks very realistic :iceslolan: The rims probably look big because of the plastic sticking out in the inner part of the rims. You could probably saw off the extra 1-2 mm
