Hi to everybody,
my 93 clio has this problem: the heater blower fan does not work anymore, (both cold/warm air comes out of the vents turning the temperature control knob, but the fan is always off).
I have to check both the blower motor and its dropper resistor, yet the main problem is to take the blower assembly of out engine compartment.
As far as I understood I have to take it out from the right-hand scuttle (I live in Italy and therefore I have a left-hand drive model car) yet this is not so simple since in the right-hand scuttle there is the air conditioning evaporator box (my clio has got air conditioning). So I have to remove first the box: following what the Haynes manual says, I have successfully removed the air conditioning ECU, the evaporator temperature sensor and unscrewed the evaporator box (this only after having removed the complete fascia assembly inside the car, fuck to Renault this is a 4 hours' work!). Now I can move the evaporator box inside the right hand scuttle but I can't figure how to take it out! It seems there is not enough space ! (I have also removed the metal plate behind the air filter and the same air filter yet this is not sufficient) ! Moreover the evaporator box is connect with metal pipes to the compressor so it can be moved inside the scuttle very little.
Should I remove the metal pipes from the evaporator ? If yes how can I do this ? Do I have to discharge the refrigerant first ?
I hope there is someone who can help me otherwise I will throw away my car. In case any pictures are needed I can provide them.
Federico.
