Can anyone tell me if uneven compression would cause the symptoms listed under previous thread of " stumbles at hwy speed"?
I'm having a real bear of a time sorting this snag out. New plugs, leads, O2 sensor, all other sensors checked, no codes, car scanned. It seems to run well in all parameters except tcc lockup. It's a 94 corsica. compression was 160 on a few, 115 and 125 on a few, and the rest in between.
Oh ya, I swapped coil packs one at a time as well as ignition module...no change.
any one have an idea as to wtf?

Any cel, what are the symptoms and when?? Info missing here. Stumbles or shudders only in tcc? The static compression variations are not good but normally would not cause an obvious possible misfire under load. Any symptoms not in tcc, say at idle or power brake off idle?

No cel, mostly apparent in tcc, however, I can sometimes get the car to misfire by selecting low or reverse and loading up the engine with the brake on. the car has 250,000 km on. would worn timing chain cause these symptoms?

For anyone that's interested, I think I found the answer!! I ended up checking each spark plug lead with an inductive timing light. It showed an obvious misfire on one lead. I swapped coil packs around and the problem stayed with the lead. I then checked the resistance with an ohmmeter and lo and behold, it showed an open circuit. My guess is the high tension was jumping the open section and providing a bit of a spark, but not enough to run smooth. As these were fairly new leads, I didn't think to double check them. This condition was more apparent in the tcc lockup mode.
Just goes to show you, check the simple stuff 1st!!!!!!!
Just wish I had doublechecked this before paying some boneheads with fancy scanning equipment around $400.00.
