Considering an 89 Supra Turbo

I am considering purchasing an 89 Toyota Supra Turbo with 29,000 miles on a new engine. I heard that the gasket is a big problem on this engine, but this one has an HKS metal head gasket. The owner has also done some mods to it, Blitz blow-off valve, HKS air filter, muffler, lowering springs.
My question is, would this car be a reliable daily driver, and are there any other problems that stand out with these cars? For example, how is the tranny/rear diff?
Also, what can I bring the horsepower up to on these cars with just bolt-ons (turbo/fuel system upgrades) on stock engine internals? Any information would be appreciated.
Thanks!

I had an 87 (same body style) used it everyday great car( I bought a 93.5 tt when they came out) The only real problem with it was the head gasket afaik. get a down pipr( removes the cats) boost controller on the mk3 I believe if you want ot turn up the boost past about 11 psi you need an add on to the ecu to add additional fuel to avoid detonation. supra web (http://www.supras.com/) check out this web site for more info or mvp motor sports (http://www.mvpmotorsports.com/default.asp) for buying stuff
