Engine Swap Question

I have read on the internet and heard from mechanics, that it is possible to make this swap....
I have a 95 3.2L V6 Rodeo (2wd) and I want to put a different engine in it.... Not an isuzu engine (notorious for the tick) I want to use the chevy vortec engine. I heard that this engine is in some of the troopers andit can fit rigthinto the rodeo. If anyone know for sure this can be done let me know. Alsoif you know of any other swap that are possible and, most impotantly, worth doing. I am just not sure of the fact that the vortec is a much newer engine and may not be compatiblewith the older (95) rodeo.

anything is possible with enough time and money. If you are buying a chevy engine you will also need a wireharness, ecu, tranny, transfer case, rearend, and new engine mounts too.

Probably cost 5-7k for all the parts used installed (not very cost effective)

No, I dunno of a vortec that will bolt to the trans (4L30E or 5spd). The GM RWD 2.8/3.1/3.4 will, plus the northstar V8 will. No confirmation on this, but I don't see why the GM 3.5L V6 "shortstar" wouldn't either, as it's the same as the northstar, minus two cylinders. The "shortstar" was used for like 2 or 3 years in olds aleros and auroras. Even these bolt-up engines require mods for the starter, cooling, exhaust, wiring, etc.

G/luck
