Hi All,
I am new to this forum, I have a 99 Olds Intrigue whose fan blower motor appears to be in need of replacing. Up until last week I was able to utilize the heater but not without an intermittant squealing noise. I just got off the phone with my stepdad and he seems to think that is the fan blower motor. Can anyone explain to me how to replace it?

Any help would be much appreciated!

Also, in reading some of the posts I noticed a few problems I have had in the present/past.. I am so glad it's the car and not me LOL :iceslolan

Welcome to AF!!

The motor is located up under the dash on the passenger side of the vehicle. You will then need to remove some of the carpeted trim under the dash. Once you have everything out of the way you will need to crawl way up under the dash and remove three bolts that hold the fan in place. You can purchase a new one or a used one from a wrecking yard but both will change the same. I can't remember but I think it is either 5.5 or 6.5 mm bolts that hold the fan in place.

Space is quite limited and it will be difficult to get to so it you may want to remove the front seat on the passenger side to give you greater access.

Good Luck!

5.5MM just replaced mine on my 99 grand prix not a bad job just take your time. The connector is in the back kinda hard to see but you have to push in the little plastic piece then pull down.

The motor was squealing in my '99' Intrigue also. I removed it, lubed the bushing and shaft w/ a little grease and it's been fine ever since - that was over a year ago.

There is a drain hose in the shroud area for the fan. That drain allows the water to drain of gets plugged and will fill the fan area. This in turn will mess the fan motor up. A great GM engineering flaw. Keep it cleaned out or it will fill the floor board on the passenger side.
