I have narrowed my search to either the K&N FIPK ll or the MAC CAI, just wanted to know which is the better system to go with and any thoughts on the Demolet CAI. Also my stang is a 97 stock v6 and i've read that if I just change the air filter and remove the air silencer I will get the same result as the dropping in a CAI is that true? Thanks for the help

Removing the air silencer will NOT DECREASE airflow, it will increase it. The silencer slows down the airflow and makes the air bend and turn to slow down (reduce airflow) which also makes it quieter. When I removed the silencer on my 5.0's you could hear the air rushing in a little. Ford didn't like that noise on their cars, I guess they thought the older people wouldn't like the sound. Then when I used a 12 inch cone on them you really could hear the air being sucked into the engine.
