I'm experiencing starting problems with my 97 XJ. When I turn the ignition, nothing happens. I hear the starter relay click, but it doesn't turn over. If I wait 5-30 minutes, it will start right up. I've replaced the started relay and NSS, still no luck. Any thoughts? Appreciate the help!

my '93 GC did that a couple of times, it ended up being the wires that attached to the starter came loose...

Does this happen when cold, hot, both, in between?

My 97 had a bad switch, but I would start with Battery and cable testing, including ground. I mean test, not buy and replace. Get a Digital volt-ohm meter.

i had the same problem with my xj, i had to keep a long crowbar in the back because i would have to bang the starter in order for it to start. turns out it was the wire connection. wacking the starter might be a temperary solution you can try
ps. i eventually had to replace the starter afer accedentally cutting the wire while wacking the starter. so be carful...
