Okay, Myself and a buddy found a 80's model maxima witha V6 3000 (3.0) and it needed a timing belt so we put one in.. Car never ran even before we put belt in. But thats not the problem. The problem is it will not run even with fuel and spark. Checked Dist. And compression. Neither was off.. So im stumped.. it does however turn over and try to crank but then when we quit trying to crank it, it will throw up a sensor light that just reads: "Sensor" So i have no clue what to do... I thought maybe and 02 sensor was the culprit for the light, and maybe the crank sensor or cam sensor was bad... Also, could this be a plug problem from plugs either being wet or not the right brand.. I know these cars only run correctly with NGK plugs. Please help me out! thanks -Chris

Okay, Myself and a buddy found a 80's model maxima witha V6 ...

- the model year is?
- check the sensor(s). Test by taking MAF plug off. Should start in safe-mode =2.2k rpm ceiling.
- use dmm to check Campos & MAF signals. See p.9 below
- "I have" experience of new Bosch plugs: 4-cyl engine died after 20km's... minus 20C. Friend installed ol champions back, and off he goes. But having all six suicide, maybe that would ba a record? Possibility, but slim.
- belt is 1-2 teeth off?
- spark is weak: cap, plugs, wire, rotors, transistor, coil, ECU, low voltage... see. also p.10,12,14, 15...

Edit:
To tst the belt: place plastic bag tightly around air intake (?take MAF out). Rotate engine carefully by hand. Only shrink/suction allowed...

Just check the trimming belt check the way you put on it is directional if it is off just a little and it on it will not work.

Oya check the deposits on the head? if they are holding the valves open it will be to lean?
