Is there any way to modify late model chevy astro van to run on E85 fuel?

I don't know for sure... But I would assume that one could reprogram the computer to handle it. I don't there would be much to change besides that.

There is no re-programming required,,,you may get a check engine light because of the oxygen content in the fuel,,,,,,I have been mixing 50/50 gas and e-85 for 4 months,,,,95 Jeep GC,,,and 97 chev venture....Others I know ,,,,Kia sportage ,,,,Dodge Caravan,,,,NO PROBLEMS

Have you noticed a gas mileage decrease by doing this?

I guess I should have been more specific. I'm sure it could run on E85. but it will take a ecm re-programming to OPTIMIZE it and make it run as good as possible.

Mileage seems about the same,,,don't really check ,,still takes about $20 a week,,, there are aftermarket controls that install between injectors and processor ,,,looked more to address the use of pure alcohol vs E85 or a blend of both ,,,about $400.00 for V6...very simple installation,,must adjust fuel pulse duration....

Doesn't an ethanol blend higher than 20% degrade rubber hoses and gaskets?

There is so much mis-information on this fuel,,,,Don't know why??????
I cannot tell you what damage using this stuff will do.... By mixing 50/50 should give aprox 35% blend,,,or so,,,seeing the system tolorates 10% with no issues ,,,, why would 25% more make that much difference???? O.K.
my gas lines will rot out in 10 yrs VS 12 yrs!!!!!! Strange,,,you can buy gas line antifreeze in a plastic bottle,,,,Why or better yet how long before it eats the bottle that it is in {basically the same stuff},,,I've got some in the garage ,,,been there for 10 yrs or better,,,bottles still there!!!!!!
Another point ,,,the orange junk running through the radiator,,as a fact does
erode plactic components on the engine,,,now look at the radiator tank ends
{most cars} ALL plastic !!!!!! HMMMMM!!!!!!!
HAPPY MOTORING!!!!!!!!

Not really misinformation, just ignorance on my part. The fact that E85 fuel is ethanol is the sum total of my knowledge on the subject, hence the question mark at the end of my post.
If this is misinformation it must date back to at least the OPEC oil embargo days, when ethanol blends became rapidly popular.

As I read your post ,,,on tv they are reporting the price of crude going up because another BS issue in the middle east,,,well the pump price will go up
again I suppose.....The people of this country,,,many countrys,,,need to wake-up,,,this is a real choice ,,no matter percentage a person burns. The
arguement of cost to make VS energy output doesn't hold a drop of water if
it comes to having NOTHING to burn in your car!!!!! Don't listen to trade imbalance BS as you fill-er up with gas.....I personally enjoy the fact that my
dollar STAYS HERE!!!!!!!!! What else can you say ,,,,,,other than
Think Green,,,,Go Yellow!!!!!!

I ran across an article on switch grass ( I think it's called?). yields about 1000 gallons of ethanol per acre. Stuff used to cover the midwest back when bison roamed free. If that yield is accurate, out fuel will be coming out of Kansas and Nebraska and we can tell OPEC to take a hike.
