I heard about the 6-speed auto in the 2006 C6. It's supposed to have paddle shift and whatnot. What do you guys think about a Vette LS2 with 6L80e swap into a '95 Z28?

The trans on the vette is not in ia tranmission's "normal" location you know....

The tranny in that corvette is in the back of the car right in front of the differential. Whole lot of modification to get that to work.

What if you took out rear seats and re-shaped the floor pan? I don't recall there being any frame members there.

Is it spmewhat shape like the 700r4? Maybe you could get some type of adapter plate? (I don't know what the hell i'm talking about!!!)

I imagine the bell housing isn't even present since it's rear mounted. No wonder the interior of the Vette's are so small.

Maybe you could mate one to it? I can just imagine it now.... going through 6 gears automatically in my 305... sweet dreams man... sweet dreams...

actually, that's one of the two main reasons it's like that

1-weight distribution
2-reduction in size of the trans/drive shaft tunnel.

I'd cream to have that trannie, check out the ratios:

First: 4.02
Second: 2.36
Third: 1.53
Fourth: 1.15
Fifth: 0.85
Sixth: 0.67
Reverse: 3.06

With a 4.10 rear, first gear would shred slicks.

Oh, and also, I think a 6L80e would be death with a Whipple-charged LS7 and rear mount. Oh dear lord. *saves money from now on*

Any other ideas on how to make this work in an F-body?

Edit: I read somewhere else that someone thought the caddy STS-V version looked like it might fit an Fbod.

Had a thought, think the bolt patterns on the Vortec truck engines is the same as an LS1? They got the 6L80e as well.

if u want a paddle shift camaro, do the ls1/4l60e swap on pre 1990 third gen, then u can use the paddle shifters from twisted machine. it fits 67-94 gm collums (90-94 u would have to sacrifice ur airbag).

You guys know you can just buy a regular auto six speed tranny from GM, right?

You can?

I thought the 6l80e was the first A6 from them?

And no, I don't want paddles. I want an automatic 6 speed in a 1995 4th gen.
