How do I go about installing aftermarket speakers in my 99 cavalier? I bought 6x9's which are what it needs, however the factory brackets don't fit around them and the speakers appear to be slightly larger than the hole in the car they need to fit in. For those wondering I bought Infinity 6x9 (9613i). Any help would be wonderful, this is driving me crazy! :banghead:

idk about making a special bracket or anything but seriously i took a kitchen knife and found out what was stoping the back of the speaker from going all the way back and i saw'd the little plastic piece off....now it fits ALMOST perfect....1 screw on both speakers isnt all the way in...but they work and it sounds pretty good

A: Take a dremel tool and make the hole wider, or
B: cut a hole in the rear deck cover, and install the speakers on top of it with the speaker covers over it. I believe one of the Jayson's on this forum did method B. Looks good IMO.

does it rattle at all, i mean if you say almost perfect, that sounds like theres space for it to rattle
