Engine light Blinking, Catalectic converter?

Ok, I need help. I had my car detailed yesterday, and the guy washed my engine, I assume with a power washer and he has done this many times before, and I have seen him cover the corner boxes on the engine Well now the engine light is blinking, indicating that the egine is missing and it is running like crap and has that Catalectic converter egg smell..Could it have just gotten wet and will it dry out? Thanks for any thoughts that anyone can provide. I LOVE THIS CAR!!!! :banghead:

As a general rule of thumb, it is helpful if you post with the year and engine of your car (V-6 or V-8 is usually sufficient for engine).

There is a chance that water found its way down the spark plug wells. Or, you may have the common valve cover gasket leak and oil is filling the spark plug wells. You may also have a coil that went bad at the same time (coincidence).

If you get the codes read, it should point you in the direction of the misfiring cylinder. Many auto parts stores will perform the code scan at no charge (you just are required to humor them by listening to their diagnosis and sales speech). Get the actual code number though rather than just the description, and don't buy a coil from them just because the code says cylinder x is misfiring.

It is a 2003 LS V8 Sport. It just makes me sick, sometimes the light will be steady and then start blinking. I am taking it to the Dealer tonight anyway as there is a TSB on the shift pack module. I will let you know what NOT to do when washing an engine next time. Thanks for the reply.

i hope you're not driving it like this series damage to the converter could occur costing you a ton of cash, as far as the "shift pack module" i've never really heard of this component what exactly did they tell you this was?

Well just so you will all know, I had to replace two coils that went out due to the water getting in there and making them bad. My lincoln dealer said, a word to the wise... NEVER wash your engine. So several hundred dollars later, a lesson well learned.
