Is it worth it?

So there's a red 1986 Nissan 300ZX for sale at a dealership down the street from me. I like the car, I've driven another 300 of the same year and everything. It's high mileage, but the cars are very dependable (the one I drove has over 200k miles on it and runs like new). It's a five speed manual and the interior and exterior are mint.

I currently own a 1999 Ford Escort SE Sport. It's very fuel efficient (though I don't go anywhere) but, like all Escorts, it is an Escort. It's an automatic (boo) and I bought it a couple years ago cuz I was in a bind.

Now the question is, is it really worth me trading the cars off? I'll be going from FWD to RWD (I live in a valley, so winter weather can get kinda bad) and I'll be looking into buying a used WRX in about a year. Both car values are similar, I'm sick of driving an automatic but I can live, you know?

Another form of reasoning I have is that it is a manual transmission and it's been a couple years since I've owned a manual (81 Ford Mustang). I would like to get back into a clean practice of it before I buy something I'll have for years. I'm still a little hesitant though. What do you think?

where exactly do you live? i live in canada and have to drive a mazda rwd pickup, i dont think the rwd 300zx will be much of a problem. also, if you're going to replace it in a year not much can go wrong in that time span. might as well get something that will be fun to drive.

damn i polled after all the action was over. well the method behind my madness is this. i voted no. why? i prefer to think of it like this. parts are like water... its fricken everywhere (while the 300 also has its share of part availability). also wear and tear. your escort is only 7 years old, and yes there a condradicting things people can say here, but in my opinion, your escort may have it when it comes to wear. another point is the age of this stuff. shit breaks on old cars. newer cars parts are available (like ac compressors, radiators. and stuff tends to not break so readily cuz the seals havent become bad due to time (not use). if it were me ild save up the cash, find a car you want and buy it, but keep the escort as a backup, for instance i have my zx2. but my project cougar runs decently so if i need something, or if my car has to go into the shop. i still have mobility. thats my opinion, take it how you will.

What about for a 94 Dodge Stealth R/T?

Just found one yesterday I'm going to look at in a few hours, looks nice, and with the basic background on it, it should be a decent car for me to own.

Anyone know anything about them?

they're the 3000GT; big, slow (pending on the model), and guzzle gas like a Hummer in traffic.

They look kinda cool though.

So the Stealth turned out to be in HORRIBLE condition. I mean scratches all over the paint, battery was dead, engine was having difficulty idling. I got the fuck outta there quick. So I'm moving down the list of more expensive options (though I wish I could find something decent cheap). I found a 95 Eclipse GS-T in Maryland that has very low miles for its age (66k), a 98 Eclipse GS-T Convertible that has even lower miles (55k), and this is the best part:

a 1966 Ford Mustang garage kept. This thing is beautiful and in mint condition. Guess how many miles?

75k original. I damn near nutted my pants seeing that baby. Only problem I have is that it's an automatic V6... It has an aftermarket 10-disc CD changer in it though. Meh. Have a look at it if you like:

and if any of you have any ideas of getting there before me tomorrow and buying it I will hunt you down and kill you seven times before you hit the ground.

I'm not getting this for me, I'm doing this for my mother. This is her favorite car of all time. Break her heart, I break you in more ways than you'd like to hear about.

Have a nice day :)

How much is it? Maybe you could buy it and sell it for more.

Oh ok nvm, just read the part about your mom, thats nice of you.

But about the GS-Ts, you'd be extremely lucky to find another GS-T with that low miles, just remember, when modded they have wheelspin lika summabitch.

If I were to get it I wouldn't work on it for awhile, other than some base mods. I need it to live so I can't fuck with it too much.

the stang's beautiful. if it's for your mom, does she want a manual? does she need a v8? with the gas prices the way they are now i don't thnk she does. plus it's dirt cheap, i mean 6-7k for a mint 66 stang is pretty good.
