I had the same problem, but found nothing. Then, I let my uncle drive it, and he said it seemed fine. I told him "drive it like you stole it" so he dumped the clutch, and we got stuck in 3rd gear after a second of driving. Turns out the shift cable freyed out on one end. Takes two people to check this (one in the car, one in the hood) but it could be your problem. The cable comes fabbed with 2 cables with rubber locking them together.

I could tell there was a problem because when I hit 5th gear, I would bump the passenger's Knee, meaning there was less tension in the cable.

I know it does on older but the newer ones have a sensor for everything and i dont want to do it if im gonna screw with it...thanks again man

it does but on the new ones they have a couple of sensors in the pipes so you would have to find a way to bypass them or just get it to read like it does with the cat. on. I wouldnt do this.
