Wiring problem

Can someone please tell me what tells the light under the hood of a 95 1500 to come on when you raise the hood.I have a short somewhere and when i raise the hood the door dinger starts dinging and the seat belt light flashes. I figured that would be a good place to start looking for the problem.Thanks to anyone who can help.

The hood light has a weight that shifts when the hook is around 45 degrees. If there is a short it is probably inside the hood light; otherwise, make sure you don't have a bad ground on that circuit.
