ruff Ride

Does anyone know why my 97 Mountaineer has such a hard ride. Every little bump we hit, it shakes the whole truck. This is my dads truck. He tells me the shocks look ok. He ask me to write on here and ask you guys for any suggestions or solutions. I think it is just the type of truck it is. I have ridden in newer Mountaineers and they have almost the same feel. I dont know, Im not holding my breath for a responce. I know its a dumb question. :banghead:
