keyless remote

Hey I have a 95 firebird and the keyless remote would not work. it will work for the trunk but won't for the doors unless you get right up to the door and point it around in many directions and push the button over and over then it will finally unlock the doors. This is with a fresh set of batteries. Any suggestions?? Also where is the reciever for the thing?? Thanks in advance for any help or advice.:crying:
