2000 Rodeo just purchased..Need parts

I just purchased a 2000 Rodeo LS (96,000 miles) 3.2L 4x4 yesterday. A few minor problems and accessories needed/fixed.

Mechanical problems: fuel light flashes and gas guage fluctuates. Took it to mechanic today, have to order part from out of town since we no longer have an Isuzu dealer. No problem. Going to cost about 200.00 to fix.

Tires are in very poor condition.....need to spend 499.00 on 4 tires OUCH.

Minor things that I am needing. If I plan to keep SUV I want all of my parts. I need a driver door courtesy light cover. In the back cargo area on the passenger side is a compartment? I need the cover for this. It obviously had one at one time because there is one on the driver side where the tire jack is suppose to be? So if that is the case I need the original tire jack to put back in the compartment.

Don't know how to explain this one but here goes my attempt. When you open the doors, you see a bar with a pin in it (not a hinge). This bar keeps the doors from coming back at you and from flinging open and hitting something parked next to your vehicle. I need the pins for the bar. I went to a body shop and he rigged it for me but now when I open the door it creaks. Body shop said get original pins from dealer. YEAH RIGHT WHAT DEALER!! Need original pins for my Rodeo. Anyone know what this part is called?

No factory keys with the Rodeo so I do not have the keyless remote. Only one key given from the used dealer and it was a copy from Walmart. I am sure the dealer did not have the originals or remote since I test drove other cars on his lot and he had them on some. Where can I get factory keys and a remote or two for my Rodeo? Think I could contact the 4 previous owners and by chance they would still have the remote and keys. Not sure if this would be appropriate. I may be the only one that hangs on to things like that. I have my original key and remote to a 2001 Chrysler Town & Country LXI minivan  and a few other cars.

I pulled a carfax report and my Rodeo worked its way south. Original owner in Utah (car rental place) sold to second owner in Utah, then 3rd owner in North Carolina, 4th owner in TN, worked it's way down to Mississippi making me the 5th owner.

congrats on the new truck!

200 bucks to fix the fuel gauage problem isn't bad. All that is wrong is a bad sending unit (costs about 40 bucks) and is located in the gas tank (probably about 1.5-2 job to drop the tank and pull the pump.

As for parts your isuzu dealer is always a phone call away. St. Charles Isuzu is the best place to call (see the FAQ's for their number) they have the best prices on OEM parts and offer Free shipping. I have been ordering my OEM parts from them for over 5 years now and my local dealer is 2 miles from my house! They alway easily beat my local dealer prices and free shipping is nice too!

As for used parts (which sounds like you may need) I would find a pick and pull in your area and give them a call.

www.car-parts.com

As for the remote, ebay is full of them and the how to reprogram them is found in the FAQ's.

As for OEM key blanks, again, St. Charles probably sells them too.

Read the FAQ's from top to bottom.

Things to watch on your new to you truck.

Oil, what it like a hawk (check it at each gas up).
Give your truck fresh start and change all the fluids and filters.

Clean the EGR and EGR tube and PCV (see the FAQ's for the how to's).

and enjoy the truck!

Welcome aboard. You've come to the right place for info. WOW! 5 owners in 6yrs! :uhoh: Most important thing in case you havent read it yet, keep an eye on your engine oil level! 3.2/3.5's can use oil depending on their use. Low oil lvl will spin a rod bearing & trash the engine in short order. Keep everything topped up & they last a looooong time.

Thanks for the links. I will give St. Charles a call for the covers I need. And definitely keep an eye on the oil. I printed out some information to keep on hand and pass the information along to my mechanic. Had a hard time finding a dealer here in MS to get the part to fix the fuel problem.

Yep, stcharlesauto.com is the best place (lowest price, best service) to mail order OEM parts. Read up on the fuel tank sending unit for the no gas gauge. The level sensor can be ordered seperate from the fuel pump. Sometimes you can get away with bending the contacts between the wiper and board on the fuel level float to get the gas gauge to work again. The fingers/contacts wear away over time.

Did you get the door check pins? That part that slides in and out is called the door check something or other...
