I have a stock d15b2 engine in DPFI so if i want to do a d16z6 swap what all things would i need. What if i get a d16z6 engine harness and interior harness and d16z6 ecu or what ever runs this engine the best then what would i have to get beside the engine. Would i need a new cluster. Or what year modle did this engine come in a car so i can look for a interior harness on Ebay.

It would basically be like this:

Few exceptions are youd have to wire MPFI... I think its eaiser to do that, or get a rywire DX to VTEC harness than to use a Civic harness...

the car that the d16z6 came in will not match the interior harness for your car, it will all be obd-1, and also from another car...Youll need to swap to mpfi, or get a civic ex interior and engine harness, then wire vtec.

What the easyest way to do the swap.

The Easiest...do some searching, there are plenty of how-tos and walk throughs on doing the MPFI swap and a Z6 swap. The easiest would be do the MPFI swap, use a D16A6 computer(88-91 Si), along with a D16A6 distributor. Swap out motors and do any necessary wire changes and add the VTEC. The Z6 came in the 92-95 Civic and Del Sols. Im unsure on exact models.

Trust me, you don't want to swap out entire harnesses, its a lot more work than you really want.

Well what about swaping from d15b2 to d15b vtec will i still have to switch from DPFI to MPFI and get engine harnesses and everything like that. Also would a d15b vetc bolt right up into my engine bay with the stock mounts or would i have to change them?

if you want it to be worth while I really suggest getting p28 ecu and buying an obd-0 to obd-1 harness and going to MPFI, since DPFI sucks...

With any swap youll need (well technically u wont HAVE too, ill explain later) to switch from DPFI to MPFI since all other performance engines are MPFI...

I say you dont HAVE to because the DPFI manifold will bolt to most of the other D series engines, but it will not be sufficient enough to supply the engine with enough a/f to make a difference... So it wouldnt even be worth it...

The D15B VTEC will bolt right onto your cable tranny (tho since u have a DX Id reccomend an Si tranny for better performance), which has 3 of the 4 stock mounts on it, as for the 4th (drivers side mount) youll have to pull the bracket (the peice that bolts onto your engine block under the timing cover) from your stock engine and use your stock mount... So in short, yes u retain your stock mounts...

You cannot however, use the hydraulic tranny that comes with the engine with out more work, so I dont even reccomend buying it... Just get the cable Civic/CRX Si tranny its got better gearing anyways...

Well the engine dosnt come with the tranny, altinato,or a/c compressor. But can i use all that off my d15b2 that i have? As for the transsmission i can ust the d15b2 stock one until i can get a SI tranny, right? Then i have to do a DPFI to MPFi and obd0 to obd1, Just trying to make sure i got a these things right. Also would this tranny fit the D15B VTEC

Haha, I saw that posted on a local forum I visit... I guess he couldnt sell it locally so he listed it... Anyways, yes, the A/C, alt, and all that will swap over from your stock engine... The only difference, which dosnt really matter, is the newer alternators have a 3 ribbed belt, so that means the crank pulley will have a 3 ribbed space for that alternator, but I used my stock 2 ribbed alternator and belt on the 3 ribbed crank pulley and it works fine, its just got an extra rim there is all... As for the tranny, yea your stock tranny will work fine until you can buy an Si tranny...

Good luck! I always like to see people take interest in their vehicles and how they work, and want to make them better.

Did you do your swap yourself? Or did you get someone to help you.

Well I bought it swapped, badly. It runs well (I dont know how), but the wiring is totally trashed. They used all of the right parts, as you can see in my sig, but they hacked the friggin harness. There are wires with 3 butt connectors on it for crying out loud! They split the loom at the ecu and it looks like a birds nest. Im running on 1 O2 sensor! I have done everything except pull the engine on this thing, Ive pulled the suspension out 4 times now, done wiring, vaccum, electrical problem solving, mechanical crap, Ive worked on every single system of this car.
I ordered an SI interior and engine harness so that I can get it all back to normal, and so I can get my a/c back, and more importantly, because I dont want to even try to repair this harness, after the mpfi swap and the vtec hookups......
