headlight and back up lights on constantly

hello there im new to this site. i own a 1997 grand prix gtp. the other day i opened the trunk with the button in the glove box without having the keys on me. i went inside and looked out an hour or so later and the headlights and reverse lights were on. i realized the only way i could get them to turn off was to disconnect the battery. i have searched high and low to try to figure this out and im stumped. the car runs just fine exept for the highbeams on all the time and the reverse lights on unless i pull the main fuse or disconnect the battery. i was told that it may be the keyless remote sensor and that it may be bad and need replaced. i am in desperate need of some insight into this problem. i could go on with all the electrical issues ive had with the car but for the most part its a great car and its pretty nice driver. any help would be much appreciated. any replies or help may be emailed to me at [email protected] thanks

Sounds like it is hanging up in the UNLOCK mode since the headlights and backlights do come on at that time. It could be the RCDLR or a data link interface problem between the RCDLR receiver and/or body control module (BCM), etc. Try disconnecting the connectors at the BCM and see what it does. The BCM is located under the dash on the driver's side underneath. Kickpanel must be removed to access it.

still no luck on making headlights and reverse lights turn off. i traced all the connections i could possibly find and i keep ending up at the under hood fuse box. i pulled it out of the plastic case and unplugged the back side with the 3 blocks of pins. the top block that goes to the maxi fuses didnt change the light problem. the next block down when pulled out turned the lights off. i plugged it back in and then pulled the bottom block and the lights went off as well.i think my problem would then be inside that fuse panell itself. the part that u cannot split open to check for shorts. does this sound right at all and do u know where i might be able to find a cheaper fuse box. gm dealership said 180.00 dollars for a new one... thanks
