Ok, this weekend I went to Mississippi and back (Corinth, MS). It was a long ass trip, including like 3" of slush on the roads for awhile, not cool. I was driving a bone stock (down to the air filter) 02 LS1 automatic T/A. I had it wrapped up around 75-80ish on the highway after I had just got done playing around with a late model SS Monte Carlo, when all the sudden outa nowhere comes another one, (on the interstate), I'm thinking, aww hell yea, finally a race. He flys by me at probably 90 something and motioned to me to bring it... Needless to say, I let him get a little farther ahead, then mashed the throttle, took a little bit to catch up, and flew by him at a little over 120 like he was standing still. Well, thats the end of my lame kill story.

The monte SS is supercharged... a whole 240 HP, maybe 260 if it was a newer model (i think, it upped to 250 or 260) with an LS1.... what did you expect???

I know, I know, I knew I was gonna rape him... We were trying to get anything to race, we ended up playing with a 05 GT, he got the hit and then we were dead even till we had to break for the semi. Played with a Mercades SUV and car (don't remember the number, Something 55) Tried to get a STS-V Cadilliac, but he exited when we got room. Screwed around with a 00ish Z28 Camaro, kicked our ass.... It was a good trip all in all.

The mercedes car... C55?? SLK55?? SLK looks more sporty/roadsterish, C55 is a coupe... theyre nice cars, I've driven many C55s and a few SLK55s... those are the most common 55's

The newer Monte Carlos arent all supercharged. From 04 and up is when the Monte SS because a supercharged 3.8 rated at a 250 HP.. if it is 03 and down the SS is rated at a very weak 200 HP.

2004 was the first year the ss's got supercharged.....before then they had 200 hp and 225 tq with the 3.8's according to http://auto.consumerguide.com/Auto/Used/reviews/full/index.cfm/id/2368/act/usedcarreviewshowall/ about 3/4 down the page....

I have to say I was impressed with the Cobalt SS. They are much much quicker than they look but I would still have a buffet on ones ass.

Uhh.. thats a really dumb question because the new Monte SS has the 5.3L v8 Ls4 or something.. pushing 303ish HP. BUT it would mean that the race is going to be pretty close because the Cobalts are pretty quick.

there was an srt4...not stock...that beat a stock gto around here...but still thats pretty fast

what year gto? cuz the 04's or 05's had just a ls1, and the 06's have the ls4 i think, all i know is that the 06 gto's have 400hp

New GTOs have the Ls2, btw.. an easy way to know what a GTO has is just remember what a Corvette has because a GTO is a Pontiac version of the Corvette with crappier suspension. :lol:

BTW the GTO would lose mainly because of the weight that it has over the skittle..

If you guys want to see something crazy, goto streetfire and look for a video that has a Charger going against a SRT4 and the SRT4 puts buslengths on the Charger..

do what!? a gto, even the '04 gto owns any stock skittle... thing that skittle have is that they are easy to mod, and the stock engine has been known to handle 500 or so horses before it grenades... essentially all they have to do that is intake exhaust, an ass load of boost and fuel...

cobalt... i got my ass owned by a redline ion when i was in my mom's supercharged grand prix... the grand prix is just like a supercharged monte, and the ss cobalt is just like a ion redline

oh and by owned i mean owned, 5 car lengths by 80, and he just kept getting farther away, both cars stock

I have to say I could very well see a 3.23 geared LT1 driver beating a LS1 with 2.73. Gears make up for alot. Even though the LS1 would still likely win I could see the LT1 clicking off a victory. Not the mention the first 1/8 mile run the LT1 has the advantage.

LT1 pulls harder down low, LS1 would walk after 110. All other things being equal, anyhow.

with the lt4 hotcam, my car pulls harder at higher rpms than it does on the low end, it really screams when it gets goin... definately pull harder than an ellis juan

ok puttin on 4.11's lost me about 15mph for every gear... and that's just the difference betwwen 3.42 and 4.11... if you add another 2.01 rotations of the driveshaft for every tire rotation with those 6.12 gears, you'll be toping out first at say 15mph, 2nd at less than 30, 3rd at about 40 and so and and so on... unless you're talking about using 6th gear for accelerating... which its meant to be overdrive... by using 6th gear to accelerate, you might hit a top speed of greater than 75...

Indeed, but when you hit 75, he'll still be launching. Done deal.
