Okay. I my weight is around 204 I am 6'2'' and I am 22 years old. I wanna bulk up..I think I am at a healthy weight for my age and height. So how much whey protein is safe? Can I take it when I dont work out? I work out 3 times a week MWF with a personal trainer. When should I take it. I only take it now after I workout with weights. I took it alot before but it seemed like i was wasting calories. Please help. Thanks! BTW my average protein intake is around 80-100 on a workout day and around 70 or so the days i dont workout right now cuz i dont take the whey shake on non workout days.

You are going to get the most out of a proetin supplement right after you work out and just before you go to bed as these are the times when your muscles will be rebuilding the most and will need protein. You should actually be eating about double the ammount of protein you are currently eating. Try eating something like a tuna sandwich for lunch its got a lot of protein and you can fix it in a variety of ways. Remember that the idea of whey is to supplement not take the place of protein in your regular diet.

It wouldnt be a bad idea to take the shake on non workout days since your body is still rebuilding even though you havent worked out on that particular day.

So, when would be the best time for me to take it on days I dont work out?How the heck can I double to 200 g of protein a day?! I mean I eat 1 cup + off egg whites in the morning, thats around 40 grams, Ill eat a whole or most of bare tuna fish from the family size packet...thats around 80 or so...And I try to eat chicken, steak or fish for dinner.....cuz I eat out ALOT. So how the hay can I double that! Sheesh! There are only 24 hours in a day! lol I guess I could drink the whey more. Is it safe to drink more of it than it says on th container.......8 fl ounces of water to each scoop. So if I put 16 fl. ounces of water and 2 scoops...does that make sense? So i will get 42 grams pf protien right there? If yes Ill try. Thnaks guys!

Based on your breakfast/lunch, on your non-workout days I would try to have a shake sometime in the evening, mix some chocolate whey with some milk and call it chocolate milk for desert.

Your probably getting more protein than you think. Just your breakfast and lunch your getting about 120g, add in 2 shakes a day at about 20g each that brings you up to 160g and thats not even counting dinner or anything else you eat in a day so your probably getting plenty of protein. With your lunch you might want to break up that massive can of tuna into 2 meals, your body can only absorb so much protein in one sitting before it sends the excess out as waste.

As a general rule of thumb you can estimate about 7g of protein per ounce of meat.

Wow, 160 grams of protein for 1 cup+ of egg whites and the tuna? According to egg beaters, 1 cup is 4 eggs. What else could I eat instead of bare tuna? It does the job, but it does get old. Is there anything else?

Also thatnks for the 7 grams of protein for each ounce of meat! Does this apply to chicken and fish also?
