I have a 1990 Crx and I am going to put a late b16 into it in about a month and since I am not that great with cars to begin with the only thing that has helped me make the decision to not take it to a shop and that I do it my self is the fact of "searching". Trust me when I say the internet can be your best friend. Search the forums... search the web... tell your self exactly what you want to know and go from there. You will have to find out at some point what you want to know. Just for the fact that if you are researching on honda crx's means that you will find tons of stuff. I hope this helps :sunglasse

Yes, the exact engine code would help out. If you don't know where to find it, look at the front of the motor(exhaust side), now on the left side of the block, by where the tranny bolts up to, will be a flat spot on the block with a code stamped on it. Its really easy to find honda engine codes, why no other company has picked up on it, i have no idea. The code should look something like D16A6, or B16a1....i just popped something off. If its a SOHC, its gonna start with a D, DOHC will be B. Next 2 numbers are what the displacement is, and the last 2 are for what model.

There are DOHC d-series engines, but the likelyhood of you having one is not good. My engine is a b16a, meaning it is a b series (dohc by default) 1.6L and the A with no numbers implies that it is JDM (Japanese Domestic Market) only, it came from a jdm car. If it has numbers then it is USDM.

Whoops...i keep forgetting about the D16A1. If I'm right its the only DOHC D series motor right? And thanks for adding about the JDM part

Ya know I'd have forgotten about it too, except that a few days ago I went to a junkyard and pulled the MAP sensor from an 88 integra, I look at all of the engine blocks. Surprised me when I saw d16, I had to take a second look and even wipe off the grime to see if there really wasnt an 8 there!

If its from an 89 CRX Si its the D16A6 105HP (the 90-91s have 108HP), its SOHC 16 valves, MPFI...

Other than the basics, I/H/E theres not too many cheap things u can do to it... Other than boosting it which isnt cheap, but itll have the best results...
