Well i was attempting to install my nismo low temp thermo today (thermo housing is uber hard to reach without taking stuff off!) and after i got the 3 bolts off and tried to take the actual housing off, it just stuck there...to get to it i had to take off the tps and cut some of the radiator hose...
anyhow, I grabbed teh long part of the front of the housing and shook it up and down as hard as i could and nothing happened, could it be the gasket is that hardened? Anyhelp is good, i sprayed it with wd40 and i am letting it sit...

yeah its most likely the gasket sticking, its a liquid type gasket thats why it sticks. my friend got so impatient he took a pipe and hammered it loose lol
p.s. dont do that, he ended up cracking it

hmm, what should I do then? let the wd40 sit overnight and try tomorrow?

dont' know about how to control idle on SR's but i know that the liquid gaskets gets hard and stuck together. WD40 would do nothing to it since its nto rust or anything. just take a flat head screw driver, and wedge it between the two parts then hit it lightly with a hammer and it would come right apart.

Well i got the thermo in and all that's why i am having idling issues
well it does seem to have come down each time i restart the car, its now at 1000 for idle, but when i pulled it up my driveway it went back up to about 1200 rpm, and its really loud and vibrating like nuts, but the temp gauge seems to be working now, it wasnt before for some reason....

its idling high cause your new thermostat monitors higher temps more accurately than lower temps. its telling your engine that its cold and needs to rev high to warm up before you start driving. low coolant levels will also make your engine rev high.
edit: if its idling high at normal operating temp, then give it time. the ecu has to get used to the new settings.

ok thanks a lot that allays most of my fears, i know i dont have a low coolant level b/c when i changed the thermo i refilled the radiator, also i dont know if this matters of not, but the new opening temp is 62 Celsius...

All SRs are wierd about Idling. Just get used to it, mine does anywhere from 1000-1300 RPM.
Any lower and my car would blow up, Cusco Engine mounts FTW.

my idling was near perfect before this, and i am running 264 cams on in and ex...do you think it could be the way the tps is positioned? Anyhow i drove the car today and from a cold start it goes to 2k idle, then down to 1500, it bogs a little, feels like there is no tq or much power, the turbo takes longer to spool, and if you let off gas the car lurches forward. Later i tested it from a warm start and it goes to 1k but creeps up to about 1300, and its much louder than normal and sometimes i can barely give it any gas at all when letting out the clutch and itll go, grr this is pissing me off...

WTF.....The thermostat doesnt tell the engine or ECU anything. it doesnt mess how muhc power you put out or anything. it jsut regulates coolant flow.
BTW my friends loss of power in his KA was due to a Bad Coolant Temp. Sensor. The car felt sluggish and didnt have any response.

I dont know where the coolant temp sensor is located and im pretty sure i didnt mess with it, however i did take the throttle position sensor off to get to the thermo housing, but i put it back on the way it came off so i dunno, im guessing that is what's causing my problems...

also mid throttle it hesitates and bucks like if you change throttle levels in the slightest bit...
