HELP- 1966 Ford Mustang engine -HELP

I just bought a 1966 Ford Mustang Coupe, I decoded the vin # it says it has a 289 V-8 engine(200hp). The problem is I dont see any engines anywhere that looks like the one in my car. My air condition unit sits on the passenger side of the car, all the others i see are on the driver side. I just wanted to make sure its the right engine for the car.

they put 289's in 66's if thats what your asking

yeah i know they put 289s in 66's, but ive been looking at pictures of 66's with 289s in them and they look just like my engine except the ac unit is on the opposite side of the engine. i guess i was trying to find out did all of the 289's look exactly the same for all of the 66's

someone may have added an a/c later?

shouldnt there be serial numbers on the engine and rest of the car that you can match up?
