2001 Taurus Transmission ?

My 01 Ford Taurus auto transmission has been acting funny the last few days. When driving with the selector in overdrive, between 30 and 40 miles per hr, it seems as if the car surges / bucks. If I speed up, the transmission shifts and then it goes away. Out of curiousity, I repeated the same trip and put the selector in drive and noticed nothing. Any ideas or suggestions. Car has been flushed and fluid changed every year by Ford, 98,000 miles. 3.0 liter V6. Dread taking it to Ford without some information to assist the service people. Any and all help is appreciated:banghead:

your vehicle speed sensor may be going out, have you noticed any other strange things going on?

I have a few other weird things that defy logic, but I am not sure how they may be related. At times, the interior dome light will not go out at all. It will stay on for hours. If I open and shut every door, it still stays on. Usually, the only way it goes out is to start it (rare occassion) or drive it forward for aboout 250 feet (length of driveway). At this point, it almost always goes out. Another issue is that the door ajar light comes on, even when all the doors are shut tightly. I have cleaned some little black sensors? on the bottom of the door frame, but I guess they are not part of the equation. It is hit and miss, very hard to duplicate. I boought the car new and have been aggressive in maintenance because I want it to last. Just goes to show me, never payoff your car early......

Thanks for the help, let me know if these are symptoms or maybe my car is possessed

I'd start by finding a circuit diagram, of your model year (try the library) and trace every "acting up" item's wiring. I have a hunch, that they'll all end up in the same control module. Don't use Haynes, it's not reliable, too general, it doesn't list the variants. In fact, don't use Haynes for anything(!) on post yr. 2000 Taurus, or spend your money for it, my copy of "yrs '96 through '01" is almost useless, except in very general terms.
