I just bought a 1994 Mercury Grand Marquis (great car) - and I do not have the keypad code for the door - neither did the previous owner. What do I need to do to reset this and set my own code.

the code is preset at the factory. you must have the original 5 digit code to set your own code. i didnt know the code when i got my 96, so i called a local dealer and he told me to look for a white sticker some where throughout the vehicle. When first owner bought the car the dealer gave them a sticker with the 5 digit code on it. what the owner does is either stick it in the trunk or similar area. Mine was located in the trunk on the trunklid arm. if you cannot locate a white sticker with 5 numbers, you have to go to the dealer and they will plug it in and read the code for a fee. depends on dealer, could be $25-$85. your owners manual will also help with useful info, like how to set your own code and keyless entry info. good luck nice purchase. remember change the oil every 3000 miles and the car will go 275,000 miles easy.
