i have a 99 civic vp, and my lights no metter if there the low or high beams pulse, along witht he dash and dome lights. i have alot fo after market stereo,( 2 amps, sumbs, satelite radio, and head unit) but it does it even when the stereo is completely off, my battery is only retaining about 12.7 volts, is that maybe the cause??? oh it does it at idle or at highway and all inbetween

i was thinking that it could be the alternator, ive had it checked at checker and autozone, the checker guy knew what he was doing, and it was good, butthe autozone guy was a moron, and he said it was bad, the alternator is putting out 14.7 volts, i have no idea about amps though, no i dont have any caps.

Well you should get a capacitor of SOME sort, but be super careful or have someone else install it because like an amp, it can zap the crap out of you if you wire it wrong. They have some cool polished look caps and some that have a digital readout of the voltage running through it. It should help anything that dims if the alternator isnt the case.

it does not pulse with the stereo, it just does it to its own pace

sounds like it could be an alt. but i wouldnt put my money on it... my g/f's car a 98 ex has been doing that for 3 months now, if it were her alt, it would her alt would have went bad by now, or atleast the problem would have gotten worse... i really think there is a defect in civics somewhere, but from my info, there is no info on anything like that... good luck
