starter problem

I have a 03 150 4.6 v8 it just wont turn over it just cliks i boosted it but no go i tryied hitting the starter and it will start but after i shut it off it does the smae thing is it starter or solinoid on starter any one else have this problem

With out bench testing the starter it is hard to tell. Pull the starter off and take it to a part store and have them bench test it, they should be able to tell you from there.

If you can whack the starter and make it work, it's usually a sign the brushes or solenoid are bad.. I can't find a rebuild kit for it, and a new one is quite pricey.
