Ok, I know this is a stupid question. But here goes. what are people talking about when they say their engine has a spun bearing? and why does this ruin the engine? I thought bearings were supposed to spin. just a question. thanks TK

rod and crank bearings are not suppose to spin. they don't look like regular bearings, they are two halfs that are U shaped that sit in the block or rod. they are stationary. the crank and rod rides on the oil between them. when they spin they cause metal shavings all over the place. Which will then result in a knock and low oil pressure.

Yup, well put :bigthumb:. clearance on bearings is crucial. may even fuck up crank journals. roller bearing and such are ment to spin.
